heater stuck

My 2000 tahoe gets stuck on high then works fine later on. how can I fix it towork all the time?

Replace the acutator under the kick plate on the passengers side. It is the part that opens and closes the door between hot and cold. You can get this from a dealer, or if you can wait a week or so from a site such as www.gmpartsdirect.com. I just replaced mine. The part from gmpartsdirect cost me about $35 with shipping. oh yeah. You are talking about the HEAT right? If you are talking about the fan, then it is the blower resistor. These were the solutions on my truck and all others I know of anyways.

yes I am talking about my heater, you think the acutator is wearing out and works some times and not sometimes?

Most likely. For most people, it will switch over if the heat is not all the way over when you turn your truck on. I could switch from cold to hot, but not back to cold. If this is the case with you I reccomend switching out your actuator. There are a couple other forums about this issue.

If you don't want to fix it or don't know how - I have found the following works. Put the heater control to the coldest setting which is like 9 am on the colck. Turn off the car. Turn it back on and do not put the heater dial past 2 pm (if were a clock). 3 pm is the highest setting - never put it to the highest setting and it should work fine.
