Buying a deuce?

So I wrecked my jeep, and before that I owned a 95 RX7, before that a 2K Civic. I got out of jacking with fast cars and went to jacking with muddy cars. Now I'm looking for something new, and I have a friend that always gets MR2s and just raves about them. So I'm thinking I want to go in with about $3.5 grand and get a deuce. But i don't know half of crap about 'em?
Are they hard to maintain?
I hear replacement parts for 'em aren't cheap either, any truth to it?
And finally, which ones are n/a and which are turbo? Any way to tell? The one I was looking at is a '91. Don't know much about it past that.
Oh yeah, and anybody know anyone that has an MR-2 they want to get rid of? Where does anyone suggest I get one? And don't say ebay.

The visual differences between turbo and NA are minimal:
Engine Lid: The turbo model's vents are raised, where the NA vents are flat (flush)
Foglights: *most* turbos have foglights.
"Turbo" badge on the back.
Also, if the car is automatic it's an NA. ALL turbo models were 5 spd.
US NA mr2s have the camry motor (5sfe) 2.2L I4 130hp, US turbos have the 3sgte 2.0L I4 200hp/200tq
For $3500, you can get lucky with a 91-92 NA. For a clean turbo, expect $6-8k.
As the name says, MR2s are MR. This being said they handle much differently than FF or FR cars. Please Study this before you wreck a nice mr2.

-Well, first I'd like to point out the if you find a MR2 turbo with no T-tops buy it, as it is rare in the US. The second thing is that Rotary motors are just as hard to work on as the 3SGTE is. The rotary is complicated and unconventional so the price goes up to find the mechanic for the job. MR2's labor price goes up due to the engine location and size of the engine bay. But if you do your own work it will be alot cheaper.
-"MR2's will take care of you if you take care of them". Change oil, Air and oil filter. And change plugs, wires, Distributor cap and rotor with new Toyota parts about every 5000 miles.
-Also I would like to point out that if you had a 1995 RX-7 Twin Turbo that car will beat an MR2 turbo in a strait line and around a track. But driving an MR2 is unlike anyother car. If you are looking for the same price range but at another car look for a late 80's RX-7 Turbo there equal to MR2's but you have expirence driving a FR and a rotory powered beast.
