Hi, folks.

My wife has always wanted an early 60s falcon. Yesterday she saw one at a dealership and loves it. Wants to buy it this afternoon.

What should I look for as far as defects? Where should I look for rust, bondo, suspension problems, etc.? Should I look for specific mechanical problems? I really want to be forewarned and forearmed before I go to the dealership. It's only 4 hours away!!!

It's a 1962, straight 6, 3 on the tree, 2-door.

Thanks very much! This is my first post, but I"ll probably be coming back more often now!

Look for rust more than anything else. If car sluggish (poor performance) engine may need to be rebuilt. As far as rust goes it's usually found down low from the front quarters to the bottom of the doors and the sill panels under the door, and below and around the rear wheel arches. The back is a killer rust spot look in hard to see areas. Open the boot and inspect everything in there well. Lift up the carpet etc. If it has carpet, being an old car it probably doesn't.
