89 K1500 starting issues

I have an 89 Scottsdale and am having mad issues with it starting. I started it about 3 weekes ago and went inside the house and came back out and it was dead. I cannot get it to start. I am getting fuel, checked all relays and fuses. Also replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ingnition module, coil and distibutor. I dropped distributor back in where in where it goes and lined up with #1 cylinder. I cannot get it to run enough to due the minor adjustments. I am not getting enough spark off of the plug wires. Could it be the alternator? I have worn out my hanes manual. If anyone knows what else it could be I would love to hear it. Sorry this is such a long post.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. You say you put the dist back in where it was and then you say you lined up the rotor button with #1 cyl. If you did that then you should have brought the #1 piston to TDC. Did you do that? If not then you are probably way off time and it won't start like that.

If you remove your distributor cap, and rotate the crank until the timing marks line up, the rotor will either point physically in the direction of the #1 cylinder, or 180 degrees in the opposite direction. That is the way it was designed to sit from the factory. Once you know which terminal on the cap is #1 then the firing order should be 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a clockwise order. Your firing order is cast into the intake manifold for reference. Once the engine starts, then time the engine according to the emission sticker under the hood.

After you've done those things to it and get it firing again, if it's still running crappy check your fuel filter. Be surprised how major problems can be caused by simple parts.
