After playing a fresly burned CD in my factory player. I came out this morning and found it making a noise every few seconds. Sounds like it's trying to read a cd thst's not there. I cannot get it to stop, even with the key out. Any ideas?

Pop a factory-burned CD in or try disconnecting the power to the CD player. Might reset it.

Otherwise, only thing I can think of is somehow the laser might've been damaged, especially if the CD you made is over 74 min. Some CD players can't handle CDs over 74 minutes and supposedly can be damaged.

That or its all coincidence and the CD player just failed.

If thats the case and you find yourself in the market for an aftermarket, I'd suggest getting an AIWA unit. The one I've got does CDR/RW and plays MP3 as well. I can put (depending on MP3 size) at least 11 albums on a single CDR. I think the headunit I bought cost me $140 through Crutchfield. Detachable faceplate and came with a remote.

Your tip did the trick. Disconnected the negative terminal, re-connected, problem gone. Thanx,

KGB

No problem. Although you could've pulled the dash and disconnected the power to the unit there as well. ;)
