can you disable bumper signals?

Ok, heres the problem. I put a body kit on my 98 cavy awail back and the front bumper to this kit didn't have anywhere to put the bumper turn signals so i just stuff them somewhere behind the kit out of the way.

But then i get in a crash and the front bumper, along with the rest of the kit, disintegrate and tear out the turn signals with the sockets. (last time i buy fiberglass :disappoin)

So now my left and right turn signal lights in my cluster stay one when ever my lights are on and when I do signal to turn my front and back turn signals blink hella fast. Really annoying:mad:

If anyone knows how to bypass the bumper signals to get rid of this annoyance it would be really helpful to me.

Not exactly an xprt on this but you could try two things. First assume the circuit errors out by detecting infinite resistance on the circuit indicating a blown bulb and makes the cluster indicate a failure like you described. So what you might do is check the resistance on a good bulb, and insert a resistor across each bulb circuit in the harness where the bulb/socket would normally be. That might fool the detection process into thinking the bulb still exists and is functioning ok.
Or; you could just pull that section of the harness into the trunk and use the lighting assy as a nice interior light for those times when you need it. You won't be bothered as long as the trunks closed when you don't need to be there.
Either way, you shouldn't need to go into the lighting system maintenance/reporting configuration doodads.
Just a guess from a newbie mind.

The ideal with the resistors sounds good I think ill try that as for the trunk ideal that might be kinda hard to do and it wouldnt get rid of the fast blinking the lights on the hud.
Thanks tookie

Actually, outside of the cool site that CRJ gave, I've run a resistor across the leads for temp. fix.

However, operative is TEMPORARY!!!!!!!!!!!! Not really a recommended thing to do in any case for any reason. Except emer.fix just to get the car driving to home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fit a 12v buzzer so pedestirans can HEAR your signal! They'll never walk out in front of you again!!!

wire your horn into the turn signal.. I've seen that happen before.
