Rear door release

The l/r door on my '97 Avalon won't open from the inside. It feels like the child protector selector is working.Any ideas?

I had the same problem on my 96 Avalon. The problem is that there is a plastic linkage that is broken. The part is about $7. I had my local mechanic repair it while it was in the shop for other work.
