Have you checked your battery terminal connections. If they are of the stacked positive terminal design, you need to make sure that they are absolutely clean and free of any corrosion. If the alternator checks good and the battery checks good, the only thing left is the connections between the two. Have you also checked your fuses in your underhood box? If you originally replaced the factory delco battery and it was leaking acid, the terminals could have corrosion between the stacked positive terminals.

checking an alternator with just a volt meter doesn't give the whole story. if a diode is burnt the alternator will dump ac voltage into the battery and suck juce out of the battery when you shut it off. some shops/ parts stores will test your alternator for free.

check the remote positive terminal in the lil red case to the left of the motor, make sure connection is good, i had same prob, i replaced the stud with a grade 8 bolt and nut, and used dielectric grease for a better connection...dont forget to wrap it all with some type of insulation, ie elec tape
