difference between 93 gsr distributor and 95 gsr

is there a difference between a 93 gsr distributor to a 95. i heard that it was but i dont know what. also if i was to buy a distributor from a autoparts store, are they oem or just imitations. are they better than the ones at the dealer. autoparts have the dist. for 199 and dealer has it for 600. help please

I dont think there would be a difference. They are both OBD1 vtec distributors. The one at the auto store is not oem. It is oem replacement. Just as good as oem, but not a honda one!! Just make it easier and get the 1993 one!

They are not as the previous poster listed both OBD1 vehicles, the 93 is OBD0 and the 95 is OBD1.

Second the 92 and 93 gs-r is a completelty different car, having a B17 and not the B18c engine. The B17a was based off of honda's B16a3 therefore it has B16 block, B16 head , just different internals. The B18c is a differnet engine, same block but different head entirely., and different internals.

I don't know about the distributor, but I'm guessing no.

Anyway why not use your head and go to the autoparts store you got your price from and ask them how much for a 93 distributor then ask them to cross the part number to see if it is in fact the same number.

yeah thats not a bad idea. ill go check the auto store. thankx guys. hey guys i took my car in for ref today and i pass the inspection but i did not pass the emission. they say that my nox is too high. it was like 2000 something. it suppose to be like 900 something if i remember. well the thing i dunno what to change. i was thinking the catalytic converter(the best thing to do) but its a little expensive. any ideas guys. if the cat is the only way then ill settle for it.

NO, 92-95 Integras are all OBD-1. The body style changed in between though.

Here are the changes: b/w year
90-91 OBD0, no gsr, cable clutch
92-93-2nd gen, gsr, hydro tranny, and obd1
94-95 3rd gen teg, gsr hydro, obd1 still
96+ 3rd gen obd2(a or b) hydro, gsr, type r.

The distributor will work. I know that. But im not sure in how the mounts will line up. It may have to be trimmed to fit. IMO it would be easier to get a 93 gsr ecu!

You are wrong. and you are not only wrong about the OBD but the 92-93 gs-r is not a hydro tranny either it is cable. The hydro tranny didn't start until 94 in any integra.


I think what may be confusing you is that in 90-91 OBD integras the codes were read from a blinking LED on top of the PCM, and in 92-93 it started using the blinking check engine light method. But rest assured they are both OBD(0) integras.

The only difference between a 90-91 integra and a 92-93 is the front bumper and the intake manifold which is also where the extra HP comes from between the two years. oh and lets not forget the addition of the gs-r to the lineup in 92 but you already mentioned that.

In 94 they made the B18b which is also when OBD1 started.

Just throwing a little info in that I found out recently.

TD68U is the distributor for 92-95 GSR Integras
TD44U is the distributor for 92-95 Civic and Del Sol w/VTEC (I believe?)

Either way, they are actually completely compatible with each other. I checked them out on a few sites including Street Imports to make sure what my friend explained was right.
