Has anyone tried replacing the front shocks on a 95 Jimmy 4x4? My friend did the rear, no problem really, but I was thinking of replacing the front also with the same kind and one mechanic told me it was too big of a job, too hard..wanted to ask before I tried.

takes about 10 mins per side...2 18mm wrenches is all you need.

did mine on my 2000. Don't know if suspension has changed much in 5 yrs, but rlith is right, two wrenches did the trick. The shock sort of twists it way out of place, and you get it past the linkages by dropping it towards the front of the vehicle.

Thanks for the info, I guess the mechanic wanted to make it seem harder. Will try it next warm day.

Just did it today on my 97 Jimmy. Not fun but, yes only 2 18mm sockets and wrenches. Be sure to compress the shock when removing and installing ...
