Well i personally have not removed a door panel from a car but i have heard that there are special clips that snap into the panel and when you take the panel off the clips are broken. This may not be true for all door panels. I'm not sure but in my 95 monte (the same body as the 99) I think i have 6" rounds but it has been a while scince i have taken a look. It's in the shop right now.

This site shows pretty much a standard panel removal sequence........hope it helps. http://www.elantraxd.com/DIY/doorpanel.php The clips are generally reusable if you are gentle with them (at least they were in my 69....)

the newer models went to plastic clips that last i heard break easy. I have a feeling that is what is wrong on some of my loose interior panels

The front speakers are 5.25." and yes, the door MOSTLY snaps off, but there are a few screws. not hard to find if you just look for them. If I remember correctly, one of them is behind some removable trim above the arm rest. The clips WILL break if you remove them with all the thrust you can come up with, but if you use any degree of care they should pop out and be re-usable. I didn't have to replace any. Also, if you are devious, you can make a tool for this by simply taking a stiff putty knife or something of that caliber and removing about an area about 1/4" by 1" out of it, and wedging that between the pastic and metal and prying the clips out with it.
