Is there a special tool to remove the oil filter on the 2000 V6 Grand Vitara? My daughter puchased this vehicle and getting to the oil filter is a nightmare. Any help is appreciated

I have found the vise on my work bench very helpful...

I crank the vise down as hard as I can on my right arm, then have a helper strike the elbow with a sledge to make my arm more flexible. Aside from the slight discomfort (compared to the pain of getting to the filter), it works pretty well!

I agree with you entirely, it is a pain. I've found that my strap wrench will fit in there, with patience, then about 1/16th turn at a time til loose enough to turn off with hand. Have fun!

That was a great comeback. I will have to use it with a friend of mine who is a Chevy nut.

I'll get the strap wrench and give it a try.

Thanks bunch
