How much is your insurance?

I've been looking into buying a 05' CBR1000RR but the insurance quotes I've got are through the roof!! Farmers quoted me $5000/year. American Family quoted me $6000/year. I'm 30, married, a home owner with a good driving record here in Las Vegas NV. How much do you guys pay? What type of coverage do you have? What kind of bike, and your age, sex, and location?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Mars, how much riding experience do you have? That can also play a role in determining insurance... not to mention where you live.... I'm sure that "permenantly borrowing" a bike happens relatively often in a metropolis like Vegas, no?

that seems like an awful lot for you being 30 years old. no offense. i went in to look at the '05 R6 and got an insurance quote and it would have cost me no more than $1700 a year for insurance. thats full coverage. and im only 19.

Just recently asked my insurance what they would charge for a new GSXR1000 05' I own my home in Missouri, but I am currently serving in the Air Force at Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, Louisiana. I just turned 25, single male. I have had the same 93 Kantana 750 for the past 7 years, put 40,000 miles on it(bought the bike with 14,700). I have taken the MSF course. And when they asked me how much riding experience I have, I told them that I had been riding since I was 5yrs old, dirt bikes and mopeds. Tell the insurance company what they want to hear. I go through USAA insurance. USAA quoted me with Full Coverage on the 05 GSXR and my 96 Z71 truck, liability only on the 93 Katana. Missouri's rates for 6 months......$260 The same coverages in Louisiana for 6 months....... $1050 I'll be happy, just as soon as I get to move back to Missouri!! What other state besides Louisiana do you know has as many streetcorner Daquiri joints?! That and since most people don't have insurance in the first place, it causes rates to go that much higher for everyone else that does! I know there are some people that are paying out the wazoo for insurance, but that much a year for someone like you.....something is wrong.

I've been riding for about 7 years. And yes... I did tell them what they wanted to hear but it wasn't good enough! I did some research just to find out that Nevada is the 3rd highest state in the country for insurance. I was lucky enough to find me a quote for full coverage on my Mustang and a new cbr1000rr for $2964/year. Actually I would'nt call that luck. But that was the best quote I got so far. I'll continue to shop around. Do you guys know any insurance companies I can check?

thats the good thing about florida. no motorcycle insurance required. i was quoted 9000.00 a year for a 2001 hayabusa when i was 24. i told them to pound sand.

i pay $8 a month less with the bike than without. something about a "multiple vehicle policy" means i pay less on two vehicles than just the one alone. very cool.

Farily clean driving record (only one minor turn signal infraction), Great Credit rating, But on my 04 GSX-R750 ($2322 Full coverage) Age (22) Most of the problem! (Progressive)
To go to the 05 would cost another 5bills
I hear that with farmers if you have a couple of cars they have the lowest rates avaliable, Esp. If you do home, ect.

I just got insurance today, so here we go:
-1998 Ninja 500R
-Just got my motorcycle license
-19 years old
-live in Hawaii
-MSEP discount
-Progressive
-50/100/25 bodily injury (incl. for guest passenger) & property damage
-100 deductible theft insurance
(low converage, but hey, I'm a student and poor =P)
1 year premium rate: $667.
I was playing around with progressive's quotes and jumping up to a 600 sportbike like a CBR or a GSX would about double my premium rate! Jesus Christ I have no idea how so many people at my college can afford insurance for their new bikes.

Thats not bad at all. The 50/100 is 50,000 per person and 100,000 per acc. The 25,000 is for property damage and on a bike i don't think you will case that much damage. You should be fine.
