i know most ppl put a V8 in thier s-10s but i want a 4.3L in mine. But what i want to know is what do i new to swap in a 4.3 into a s-10 with a 2.8L. And this might be a stupid question but are there carbed 4.3s?

not a stupid question at all, not the smartest move, you will get more power from a newer moter with a fuel injection, but the 2.8 will bolt in a 3.4L from f body cars, doing a 4.3 swap will be easyer then a 5.7 in the sence of not having to do moter mounts and deal with a very cramped space, you will need every thing from the 4.3 that makes it run, oil pain to air cleaner, and i woudl go radiator to distributor, and all electrical and computers...

No, you will have to practically replace all the sensor wiring, computer, fuel pump, sending unit, transmission, motor mounts, tranny mounts.

Dare I go on?

The same.
minus a fuel pump of corse:grinno:, but i still say go for a 3.4l, it will be less work, if you really want a 4.3, you will need EVERYTHING, fuel pump foward to radiator

Have you considered buying one with a 4.3 in it, or is this your baby? It would be a lot less work, obviously... but if you're like me, you wouldn't trade it straight-up for a brand new one (If new ones still existed, damn chevy...).

This truck is sorta my baby because my grandpa gave it to me before he died. But i want more power out of the truck cuz i have the slow 2.8L in it. Also why do i need a computer for a carbed engine? And how much would it cost to get a 3.4 and what performance part can i get for it?

a 3.4 is what they put in camaros that are the looks only camaros, so look up the pro parts for those, and you will need every thing for the 3.4 too but it will mount right into place

And what do i need for a 3.4 swap

for the 3.8 swap you would need the engine harness, ecm, sensor and motor..
recalibrated tach (if you have a tach)

For the 4.3 you will need

Engine
Harness
ECM
Motor Mounts
Transmisison (your existing tranny won't work)
DRAC (if you're doing it for a 89 and up truck)
recalibrated tach (if you have the tach)
Drive shaft

When it warms up I'm throwing the 5.7l (350) from a 99 escalade in mine.

....Motor Mounts ... Transmisison (your existing tranny won't work) ... Drive shaft ...

Isn't the 3.4L the same engine block as the 2.8L, only bored out on the inside ?

I thought they were a direct swap of the motor and everything else fits. If they are then wouldn't all the existing trans, driveshaft, etc just bolt right up?

Just asking ... never seen a 3.4L engine block ... but I'm considering this option for my truck when I blow up the 2.8L.
