I have a 97 Tahoe and the cable that allows the drivers side rear seat to fold down is broken. Does anyone know if this can be easily replaced?

My cable broke on my 99' Tahoe. I got the seat open, but still am looking for where to find the cable. Would they sell these at the dealer or a junkyard??

i have that same problem with my 98. the problem is that the cable gets jammed in there and then breaks the little plastic clip that is hooked to the seat and the only way to get your seat down right now is with a pair of pliars and pulling reallllly hard:frown:

I had the same problem on my '02 (which may be slightly different). I was quoted ~$30 each for the cables at the dealer, and I figured the new ones would probably break also! So what I did was use the large gauge (yellow) electrical connectors with the small "loop" end to repair the cable.
I removed the yellow "jacket" from the connector, used an awl to slightly open the connector to be able to slip it over the cable, then closed it back up with pliers. the connector then slides up against the remainder of the end of the cable, and I used an screw and nut to fasten it back to the seat frame.
Works great now, and so far has held up well!

what is the cable part number? What do I call this cable that releases the drivers side back seat to allow the back to fold down even with the floor?

Replaced mine on my 96 Tahoe. $30 dealer only part. Had to remove the seat to replace it. Which required buying a large torques bit to remove the bolts that bolt it to the floor. Wasn't too bad to replace.
