Integra VS Maxima

Ok.. I'm sure this question has been asked before. But i am unable to locate the answer, so i will just ask again. I have an integra with a B16, full exhaust, intake, MSD, and a JUN racing ECU. It weighs in at 2500 with me not in it. My friend has a stock 95 maxima (222 hp) it weighs about 3100. Who do you think would win in a race? im talking a freeway race, to about 120 or so. Thanks

Why don't you guys just race? Run one off the line, one when you're cruising(35mph) and one on the freeway...

Neither of you will win. Especially if you're racing to 120mph on a highway, there's more of a chance you both of you to lose as well as others. Going that fast is just plain stupid, keep it at the track. At the very least don't do it for the other people on the road. If you or your friend crash and die then oh well, but don't put other motorists in that situation. Don't be a dumbass.

ok Mr. CivicSpoon.. if you don't want me to race on the freeway, then atleast answer my question. Theoretically if we were race on the freeway ( because we would not be able to get to thoes speeds on the track) who do you think might win? if I am going to honor your request and not endanger lives, then you can honor my question.

I think it would be a drivers race. The maxima should have only 190hp; the GXE, GLE, and SE should have the same hp (but I could be wrong). So with your motor and bolt-ons (and lower weight) you should be able to beat him. Your engines ability to rev higher should also help you at the top end. But if he's a better driver than you then he'll win, but not by much. If you're a better driver or you're both at the same driving level, then you should win.

I know that my 98 GSR, with AEM CAI rips apart a 95 series maxima. Really badly from a start or rolling at about 35. I have played with a 2003+ maxima with the 3.5L engine, and It was really slow on the highway... so are the new 350z's.... They are really fast off the line, I imagine because of large fat tires and RWD (350z's), but they really suffer on the top end, specially after they get forced into third gear around 60 or so. The one that I raced was slow around 75mph. Anyway, I'm not sure with your engine, but I hope my experience can give you a perspective.

My buddy's 94 Integra LS is really fast, and I'd say that any well-kept Integra would smoke a Maxima. He's got an Injen intake, Borla (I think) 3 inch chrome exhaust. That should add about 10 BHP. And I assume you have the Integra coupe. Right off the line, you would be in the lead, thats if your a fast shifter. And CivicSpoon, sure street racing is dangerous, but thats what makes it fun, it seperates the boys from the men. So street racing is somthing you have to do to like. So anyways, you'd own him in a race.

Or separates the intelligent from the reckless. Let's see...
Street racing: Don't go to the track as much, all the tickets, suspended/revoked license, car impounded (some states), insurance hike (from tickets and/or once suspended license), accident and damaging your car, accident w/serious injury to you or other vehicle, accident w/death for you or passenger or other car, feeling that you're a man.
Not Street Racing: Have to spend more $ to get into the local track frequently, not as many tickets, not as much accidents that you've caused, insurance stays the same or get's cheaper, don't have to deal with killing someone for the rest of your life, being ridiculed by being called a boy.
I like having my license, not having to pay for tickets, and having a great insurance rate. I've also never been in an accident in my life (with or without me driving). But the thing is, you're not supposed to worry about your own driving, you're supposed to be worried about the people around you driving. Most people are just flat out shitty drivers. Everyone has experienced getting cut off, having to swerve when some one in front of you slams on their brakes, seen people change lanes without even looking, or seen people change lanes without a blinker light. I don't care how good of a driver you are, it only takes one shitty driver to cause you to be in an accident. And it's hard as hell to see how fast someone is going behind you in the next lane. My friend was driving a few of us around, on the highway, going 144mph and some lady goes right into his lane before an exit. My friend had to slam on the brakes (which we both felt immediately give way) and came about half a foot from destroying both cars. Now he is a good driver, but he's reckless as hell. But something like this could happen at any speed, but a high rate of speed just makes things 100X worse.
Tracks are a way better idea anyways. Not that I've even ever raced my car, but I've gone with my friends (I'm not going to pretend that I have, I'm going to be honest). But there are far more different choices of cars to race at a track. You get american cars, european cars, and japanese cars; all in different ¼ ranges. And no tickets and safety. Most places I've been to were pretty damn expensive though, even just getting in to watch. But hey it's everyone's own opinions. I just think there are better ways to do things than have to deal with the other issues.

My little brother was killed when he was hit by a car street racing. If you want to kill yourself that's what guns are for, but don't endanger the lives of innocent people like my bother. So please grow a brain and keep it on the track.

In response to CivicSPoon and 97IntegraLS:
C.S:That makes complete sense and your right. But the thing is, we dont have any good tracks here in Minnesota. Unless you want to drive two hours north of Minneapolis (where I live) there is a 1/4 mile dirt oval track, not good for a ricer.
97:Sorry about your brother, if that happened to my brother, I'd be the same way. Again, we have a track that isnt even paved.
We arent going to some small town to race a dirt track. So where are we gonna race? The streets are the only place left to do it. But you gotta remember, Im not the one racing, my friend is. Im just along for the ride. And, yes, I know its not safe. But its fun.

one thing i think that a lot of people are not thinking about here is the fact that not everyone races on busy roads. I barely ever race where it would endanger anyone buy myself and maybe the other driver. Around here where i live.. we wiat until atleast 11:00pm then go out of town to a long strait stretch and race until we get bored and go home. No other people around but us street racers who all know the risks and are willing to take them. No "Innocent" motorists. I don't see a problem with it. I understand where everyone is comming from. Yes it is dumb to race with other cars around. I too have had someone pull infront on me. It sucked. So now i keep it out of town where no one else is, but the other racers. So to all of you that dont have a place to race.. just wait until the wee hours when most people are in bed and go race when no one is going to be endangered.

these are the two cars i was torn between before i just bought the integra. except a maxima doesn't run 220. if you are luck enough to find a maxima se with a stick (i was looking at a couple of them) then you get a little more horse then the gle gxe and a little more dressed up motor. I would have rather had the power of the maxima 6 cyls, but i ended up getting the integra cuz well, its an acura end of story. to the original poster of this thread. if your integra has intake and exhaust he won't be keeping up with you, that nissan 6cyl just can't scream like the teg.

And yeah i really have to agree with you porscheguy, Minnesota SUCKS for racing. Unless you want to drive your car all the way up to brainard and pay an assload of money to race a 1/4 mile track. And anyone who is stupid enough to race with other cars around deserves to get in some sort of accident. I get outta town if i feel like speeding, also night racing is not a good idea, yeah less people are out and less chance to hurt someone but come on, instead you have limited visibility, drunk drivers, and wildlife, night racing is almost as bad an idea as racing in traffic.

Ignorance!!! My bother was killed three years ago coming home from a party at 1am in a very rural part of phoenix, Az. No other "innocent" motorists around just to guys street racing, a four way stop and my little brother. The sad part is the only one that died was the "innocent" one, my bother. There is no justification for street racing and no safe time or place to do it. GROW UP!!!

Elk River, eh? Brainard's track isnt very nice. Have you ever been there? Apart from that, is there any place E.R. that has good streets? I live in Edina so I would have to drive about a half hour to get there. If so, what times are the racers out?

Give me a break IntegraLs, Do you even know what ignorant means? Look it up, it means lacking knowledge. anyway.. i don't want to school you, so i will get to the point. Not everyone races on open roads and blows through stop signs. I'll have you know that where i go there is not a stop sign or cross road withen 2 miles. If we even see headlights we stop what were doing and pull over. So before you go off judging other people and the situations they are in, maybe you need to get all the facts. Because the way you are talking on here makes you look like a real ass hole. I'll be the first to admit that street racing isn't safe or the smartest thing to do. But you have no idea what goes on or how other people do things. I'm sorry about your brother, but keep your comments to yourself.

why don't you put yourself in integrals' shoes and look at the situation from his point of view? is racing really worth your life or others? no
i think you ARE ignorant and shouldn't be schooling anyone. you've never been through what he has and i think he's one of the few people on this ricer-filled site that understand how stupid street racing is.
i apologize for being so blunt but it makes me mad when you're trying to say shit to someone who has lost a love one to street racing and wants to put his 2 cents in to the discussion. if you don't care what he has to say then ignore it but don't reprimand him for speaking from experience.

Because the way you are talking on here makes you look like a real ass hole. Re-read your comments, you're the only one who's coming off as an asshole.
You're one of the few people to ride on a straight road and be smart enough to pull over if you see a car coming down the road.I've never known or heard of anyone else doing it, so why would anyone assume that you try and make the situation as "safe" as possible. Most people who street race, just roll up on someone in traffic and go at it; so there's no reason for someone to have assumed you were any different. And clearly you are ignorant, because you're too close minded to really see the other side of things. And your comments show that. Think before you write.

I guess the point that i am trying to get across is that not everyone is reckless when racing. Yes, most are. But myself and my friends try to make it as safe as illegal street racing can be. We all know the dangers that come with racing and i guess are stupid enough to keep doing it. I can't lie.. if i had someone killed by a racer or if i killed someone I don't know what i would do.. I just don't want to be steriotyped like a lot of the other racers are. I'm sorry if i sound like an ass, I just want people to know that not everyone that races is as stupid as the guy that rolls up on you doing 90 in traffic.

I did not mean to start a fight on here, but it really makes me mad to see people glamorize street racing. And I did mean to use the word ignorant because anyone who tries to justify street racing as OK is "lacking knowledge." Like you said don't judge people, please don't judge me either and assume I am some stupid child and throw around words that I don't know the meaning of. I don't care how many times you stop in the middle of a race, or how far out of town you are if you are not at a designated race track you a selfish and stupid. What you don't realize is that when you race illegally you give all automotive enthusiasts a bad name. I hope one day you will realize this and keep it on the track, I just pray that it doesn't take you killing an innocent person or yourself before you change. I have said all I care to on this subject, and am willing to let this thread die, I apologize to everyone if I was being a "real asshole" but I am very passionate about this topic.
