We had a shop put a new clutch in for my sister several months ago but the clutch pedal was never just right. It engages way down on the floor. The car did not run when we got it for her so I have no way of knowing how it should feel etc. I have driven many sticks and it is just not right. I pumped the clutch several times and bled it after we got it back and it seemed better but still not just right. We let her have the car and she has been driving it but last night she called and said she could not get it in gear and that it raked a few times on the way to school. I drove in and swaped her cars last night and drove it home. I pumped it up several times and it was ok. The clutch pedal seems to sometimes stick or gets hung up a bit about 1/2 way up. It still engages only a few inches from the floor so I know something is wrong. It has like the slave cylinder and then above it it has another...something? that the hydrolic lines come from to the slave cyl. I am not sure I bleed it correctly either. Do you all think I need to get a new slave cyl...Other thing? Is that the master? Any ideas would be great. I'm new to these DSM cars. I just love it. I would like to get myself one to drive to work when I don't want to get the Trans Am out in bad weather.
Thanks a lot for any advice!

What year/model? You should put that in your sig.

I searched for clutch pedal adjustment. This is what came up. Along with a ton of other stuff.

Sorry, I put the year model in my subject. Anyway, I bypassed the accumlator thingy with a steel line and it seems better but really not just right. It engages way close to the floor. I have bled the stupid thing so many times I'm out of brake fluid. It has a brand new clutch in it. Anyway, I can shift now without raking the gears but is still seems not just right.

Now I have another problem. The Starter is making a grinding noise when I let off of the key after it starts. I makes a dragging/grinding noise. Where is the starter and how hard is it to take off? Thanks so much for the help!!!

Sorry, I didn't see the year model. Anyway, I had some unexplainable problems with my clutch and it turned out to be crankwalk. If the transmission is out try to push the flywheel in and out of the block, or if the tranny is still in get a pry bar and push the crank toward the passenger side of the car while someone else pushes the clutch pedal in. If the crank moves very much in either case you have problems. If it doesn't move then you can rule out crankwalk as your problem. The starter is near the firewall at the top of the transmission, and it is not that hard to take off.

Also double check all lines for leaks just to make sure.
