I have a 1999 sebring that I just purchased. When I start it up it makes a high squealing noise. Also when I push on the acelerator while driving. If I have my foot off the acelerator and I'm just cruising it doesn't squeal. Could someone please help. This sound is so embarrassing!!

i just got this fixed. it could be that a plastic cover over the timing belt has become dislodged in some way as to rub against the timing belt and cause that horrendous noise.

my 95 sebring makes the same noise and i got it checked out and the guy said that the axel that the ac belt is on isnt rotating which causes that noise, and if you use the ac theres a greater chance of the belt breaking which will cause more problems. so it could be that, also i dont have any plastic covers on my sebring belts so it cant be that.
