RPMs hesitating during shifting (load issue?)

my car is 5 spd 90 accord ex with 123k miles

anyway ever since i bought the car last year i noticed when i shift gears the RPMs hesitate then drops during shifting. I think it a TPS (throttle position sensor or a fuel problem. anyway if i were in high gear (5th gear) going low speeds (40mph) going WOT (wide open throttle) and push in the clutch while letting go of the gas the RPMs will rise about 700rpms and then fall back to idle. during normal driving it will only rise like a few hundred RPMs or just hesitate then fall back to idle. im assuming this is a load problem so that is why i assume the TPS or the fuel system.

anyway if u have any more questions to help me solve my problem feel free to ask. THANKS!

if your giving gas when you push the clutch in then the rpms will raise

sounds normal. that "lag" you are experiencing is probally just general engine response. inertia from the crank counter-weights and flywheel tries to keep the revs up.

ITS NORMAL FOR THE RPM'S TO DROP DURING SHIFTING.

ITS NORMAL FOR THE RPM'S TO DROP DURING SHIFTING.

no no its NOT dropping. it drops after about 1-2 secs after and im not giving it any gas. usually it drops right after u push in the clutch but in my case it does whatever i described above. unless im decelerating and then push the clutch in it drops like normal but thats b/c when u are decelerating there is no load on the engine.

i also have a 12lb ACT flywheel so i doubt its that. plus it was the same when i had the stock one on. also changed the clutch as well just to clarify.

ok i already changed distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, cleaned EGR and PCV port, corrected ignition timing, cleaned IAC valve, changed clutch and flywheel.

because your accelerating and when you push the clutch in your still on the throttle little so thats why its holding hte rpms for the couple seconds and explains why when your deaccelerating with no throttle at all, it drops like normal

Could It Be The Exhaust, The Haynes Manual Says Something About Dropping Late When The Catalystic Converter Is Clogged, OR THROTTLE CABLE MIGHT BE STICKING.

i dun think its me b/c i do the same when i drive other ppls cars. i think its a load issue b/c i was seeing how bad it could get so i put it in 5th gear and drove at 35 mph and then i went WOT (wide open throttle) at that speed in 5th and then made sure i wasnt pressing both peals at the same time and the RPMs jumped nearly 1000rpms then dropped back down. i had my friend drive my car just to make sure it wasnt me and it happened to them to and it doesnt happen when they drive their car or anybody elses.

cant be cuz i have a test pipe LOL. plus the problem was remained from when i had the stock cat and switched to test pipe.

Well Then Maybe Clutch Slippage Or Clutch Cable.

Well Then Maybe Clutch Slippage Or Clutch Cable.

like i said before i changed that as well. I kinda thought that was the problem too but it wasnt. problems remained the same. My clutch was already going bad so i upgraded to an Exedy HD clutch and 12 lb ACT fly.

throttle cable too tight ? or sticky alittle

throttle cable too tight ? or sticky alittle

naw i figured that too... but when i checked it out and it was good. then i realized the RPMs dont hesitate nearly as much in neutral so it couldnt be that. only when its in gear under a load.
