My first race with a WRX

I was in the freeway earlier from picking up my g/f. Started going from the light, got to 3rd gear and seen a WRX (not STI) hauling ass behind me. Caught up with me, on my ass, and swung over to the right lane when it got the chance. My g/f is just sitting there not paying attention so i drop it to 2nd and floor it. We were side by side for a good 200ft and i BARELY started to pull ahead when suddenly i noticed a car in his lane, so i let off and braked a bit so the WRX could cut me off to avoid a collision. In the meantime my g/f is freaking out "oh my god, look at the asshole!" I'm sittin there like "umm, babe, i was racing him. i let him cut me off....." We got up to the next light (there were cars in front of us, so we couldn't race from a stop). We get side by side and it turns out to be an old dude! I give him a nod, he throws me a thumbs up and rolls his window down. "Is that motor stock?" He says. "Well, it has a stock turbo but i have some mods to it." I replied. He says "damn that thing moves, i didn't think you'd keep up like you did." Now my question is - I thought WRX's were a hell of a lot faster than that. I thought he was gonna blow right past me after i dumped it to 2nd. Why was i keeping up and barely started to pull on him? Too bad there was traffic cause i wanted to see if i would've really got him. Today is also the first time i really started beating on the car since the new clutch was installed (almost 2,500miles ago). It felt so good going from 2nd to 3rd in the blink of an eye :) Anyway that's my story. Anyone care to tell me why he didn't blow me off the road?

Maybe he forgot to take his Geritol.

i was running side by side with an imprezza, actually i think i pulled on it a bit. From a roll. The imprezza is not all that quick when its rolling the sti is.

Yeah it was a pretty good adrenaline rush :) That dude was pretty cool. Good driver too, I was surprised. I'd like to see how my car would perform at a track from a dead stop. I know I'd get eaten off the line, but just for shits and giggles. I'd also like to meet up with that guy again and try going to maybe I-80 and race again from a rolling start.

i got into a BOV showoff with a very nice looking WRX a couple days ago on a very busy street. you know, where you feather the clutch to create load and then build RPM and let the BOV ping. anyways i was much louder in the exhaust and BOV. but the chick driving the WRX was pretty cute ;)

just goes to show... WRX's are for chicks and old guy's... LOL...

i have smoked a bunch of them on the freeway too...

The non-STIs arent tough competition really, Ive whizzed past a few as well. Just watch out for sleeper STis without the STi badges....lol.

Yeah, if it was an STi, it would have smoked you. Good Story though, nice job. bet it felt really good.

They are.. off the line. Once two cars are already coasting the car with AWD is the one with the disadvantage concidering the fact that the power is being distributed to all 4 to where FWD has only 2 making the wheels spin faster with more power to them.

I'm gunning for this arrogant prick this summer that owns a STI pushing around 300. he drives around like he owns the streets yet never races anyone with Real credibility. God how I would love to wipe that stupid smile off of his face... & will. :loser:

oh she felt the change in speed, but didn't say anything until the WRX cut me off...as we were cruisin up to the light she asked me if i was pissed off at her or something and like i posted before i said no, i was racing him lol. you all know how blondes are ;)

well a friend of a friend knows this one dude that owns a STI...i wanna race him. yes i know, i'll get eaten. i just wanna do it for fun. i wanna try from a stop, then from a roll....hopefully i'll find my battery charger and i'll have someone video tape it. my spyder is gonna get squashed :(

my friend has a blue sti and i raced him from a red light(i have a 98gs)it was really funny,it looked like he was passing me at 80mph those things are really fast
