RCA gain level question for all you guys

Ok, long story short, I bought an old school pioneer amp, (gm-h50) from one of my friends as "non working" for 10 bux. Brought it home, and bench tested it. It works great, deep bass, and very very clear highs. I had it hooked up to a couple 220W max pioneer 6x9's, and it sounded very well. Thursday I am gonna install it in my car. I just have to ask you guys... Ok, heres the question. I have a pioneer deh-p6500 head, and I believe the RCA outs are 4v, correct? Well, the amp has a gain screw, which I can set from 2V to 200mV, I was just wondering if its ok to crank the amp all the way to 2V, and if it will be safe to have the deck pumping 4V through it. Will it heat up faster? Will it fry? Will it blow my speakers at higher volumes? Thanks guys. Please, someone give some answers before thursday, so I can, go/no go with install.

you should match it.find out for sure what your preouts are. you could blow the speakers. youll get more output with higher gain but who cares if the signal is trashed and frys your coils.

the manual says 2.2V, does this sound right? Would it be ok if the amp is turned down t 2?

Keep the gains all the way down if it only goes up to 2 volts. your HU can't be turned up all the way either.

i was fixing to say.... run 5v inputs into one that isnt sapposed to go above 2.2v and you are oging to have a square signal, blown spekaers, and fried amp....

I'm gonna go for it, they are cheap speakers, and the amp is old, what the heck

hey, I hooked it up, and it sounds soooooo good. It is so clear. Bass is punchy, and strong, and highs are loud and clean. I cant believe it. What a difference from that head unit power output. Unbelievable. I currently have a pioneed deh-p6500 head unit, the pioneer gm-h50 amp, powering my pioneer 6x9's. My fronts are still stock being powered by the deck still, but now without the 6x9 load, the deck can handle them. Well, thanks for all your help guys. peace out.
