before i get flamed for reading the various posts, id like to say im not asking what kind of engine to get. i simply want to know what engine will fit with a stock 90 240sx tranny. since it uses the same engine as the altima, coudl i get an altima engine? or am i better off getting a used 240sx KA24E/DE engine? and also, could i actually put in a KA24DE and keep my tranny?

I think you'll need to use the tranny that comes with the new engine, unless your putting another KAE in.

well i was just wondering because ive heard of supra engines in celicas, but i guess they converted the tranny too. if yu need a new tranny to put in a ka24de, then im just going to get another ka24e. my goals for the car are modest, and i only plan to boost at 5-6 psi. i dont want to spend a ton of money on an engine and tranny, because this is a project car that needs a lot of work, and i need money for other things(locks, e-brake, interior paneling, fender, bumper, door, and the list goes on.

the only wierd ass swaps that i have heard like a celica with a supra engine was that the zedex tranny bolts straight up with the RB26DETT but i dont know if its true or not?

Who needs interior panneling? It's dead weight! Same for bumpers and doors, new trend is to drive without bumpers or fenders, it's super JDM tyte, yo!!!!!!!

But seriously, the KADE tranny will fit right in, it's like pulling out your stock one and sticking it back in, it's just that it's another one. It's where it connects to the engine that it's different....I think

so if i get a KA24DE, i will need the KA24DE tranny? its not the swap im concerned about, its the money. from what ive read, the KA24E can still be turboed, and has a better low end pickup, which is what i really want since i drive in the city. is the KA24E more limited in boost? im not looking at real high numbers or anything really past a stage 1 turbo kit, though id like the potential to get to 200 rwhp. from what i kow, the KA24E wil be fine for this.

Yes, it will be fine for that.

Old school Celicas were rwd. A 2JZ in a first generation Celica is one of my dream swaps.

An Altima engine in a 240 would NOT happen. That is kind of dumb.
