Differential Drain plug?

I want to change the gear oil in my differential to synthetic, either Redline or Mobil 1. I crawled under the back of the Van to scout it out and I found the fill plug but can't find a drain plug. Hope I don't have to remove the cover to change the oil but it seems like something GM would do anything to make it hard for the do it your selfer, btw it's a 03 Astro cargo van. Thanks Bob.

There is no drain plug. Removing the cover is required unless you have some sort of suction device to remove at least most of the old oil thru the fill plug.

as far as i know. none of the diff that i have been working on have a drain plug. such as Auto tranny, they don't have any drain plug. i wish they could of done it instead of doing all the dirty and messy work. but hey, we don't do the engeneering part of it, we only drive them. LOL but i like to get dirty so mine as well remove the cover and the entire thing.

Yes You Will Need To Remove The Cover To Replace The Diff Fluid. The Reason That The Cover Removal Is A Good Idea,is So That All The Old Fluid Can Be Cleaned Out And The Magnet On The Back Of The Cover That Collects The Metal Bearing Wear Debree Can Be Cleaned As Well.
