umm...yes i do have better places. there are about 500 different online stores that sell the ACT clutch or the SPEC clutch for the 3G. autozone/pepboyz/advance auto never touch my car.

the question "whats wrong with autozone, and whats your reasoning behind it?" still remains unanswered.

Hey man look at my sig. I bought a clutch from autozone and look....I don't know what they do with there clutches but I never worked right after getting a licensed mech to put it in. Maybe it was just a bad brand, but if I am going to spend that much money, I am going to get a good one. No need to get the half right clutch, for half the money, for half the performance, for twice the amount to fix it. I can understand money situations...but that is the choice you make when you buy a car. my opinion...

how much did just the clutch cost from autozone? and what brand was it?

sorry i would have replied earlierbut i keep losing my connection. damn dial up.
but anyway I don't remember what brand it was but I remember the price being around the 250-270 range. No joke. It came as a complete setup with the pressure plate riveted on.

autozone installing clutches? damn, the ones back home in fla dont even have garages. i didnt even know they sold tranny clutches for that matter. brake pads, windshield wipers, alternators, and armoral. ha, i doubt anyone that works there even has a highschool degree. they can barely work the computer let alone install a clutch. thier lazyasses wont even install windshield wipers and the next to the row it says "ask about free installation."

c'mon man, its okay to buy some parts from there, but a clutch?

they sell that cheap ass American racing products b/s

no autozone didnt install the clutch. my uncle who who is a mechanic at the dodge dealership did. Since it has the same engine as the old neon. it was a piece of cake for him but. the clutch never grab right and the was nothing wrong with my tranny and flywheel.

I too, am needing a clutch.

What are the best places to buy them, & what should I look for.
I am not going to be doing any heavy mods for at least a year.

Also, I think my breaks are going too. Any suggestions?

Thanks

for the clutch....i would recommend a SPEC stage 2. its available at just about any online performance store.

for the brakes.... http://www.club3g.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25719
you wont find a better deal than those. i just installed my set and they are awesome

I guess it would have helped if I said that I have 01 GT.

Also what are some of the good online performance stores?

Thanks again

Get an ACT clutch. You will be happy for many miles to come!!

eclipsed4utoo
03-16-2005, 08:38 PM
yeah ACT is a good company too. when you decide on a clutch, make sure you DO NOT get the strongest clutch. if you are not going FI then you don't need at SPEC stage 3 or the ACT 2600. these clutches will be too much for an N/A car. you will destroy your stock differential. going with the SPEC stage 2 or ACT 2100 would be your best bet

Thank you for all your help, but it looks like I am going to need a hell of alot more then a clutch & brakes.
I wrecked my car this morning.
Not sure if it is totaled, but it isn't looking good.

Off to look for another Eclipse.

Looks like you will get to pull stuff of my car.
The ins company totaled it Thursday.
I bought a new one Saturday.

All I want from my old car is the new convertible top
I had put on a week before I wrecked it, to put on the new one.

Oh well
