Ok, so im looking for a down pipe on ebay for my GSX and i need some suggestions. should i get the one that eliminates the cat? i dont want to eliminate my 2nd o2 becasue it will pop the CEL and cause my MPG to suck Azz. Is there a way of getting around that? any good brands i should be looking at? thanx guys

i posted a thread less then a month ago asking this question.

i was looking for a 3in mandrell DP that did not eliminate the cat. after calling many vendors including some on Ebay, there are few who offer such a downpipe RRE sells one. Basicly, buy the one you want for $130 cut the extra pipe off and have it flanged to meet upto your cat. the local muffler shop said they'd take care of that for around $50.

The second O2 sensor has nothing to do with fuel consumption. The front O2 is the one that the ECU is concerned about when determining fuel delivery. The 2nd O2 is designed to confirm that the cat is doing it's job properly. If you eliminate the cat, wrap the rear O2 in Al foil and hang it somewhere (leaving it plugged in) the ECU will not throw a CEL. You will however fail emissions if they see that you have no cat. So if emissions isn't a problem, eliminate the cat and wrap the second O2.

RRE also sells the 90 degree bend for a custom downpipe. they also sell all the flanges youll need. if you kno somebody that can weld. you can get all the material for pretty cheap

Its acutally not a 90 degree bend, I think its more like 80 degrees. At any rate, it does make fabricating a DP a little easier than using a typical 90 degree bend. I'm sure you know this modder, just pointing it out for the people that havent built their own exhaust.

i would highly recommend buying the parts and finding someone that can weld pretty decent. check out what RRE (www.roadraceeingineering.com) has to offer. occasionally i see a few apexi n1s on ebay but even for half price those things are a waste of money.
