89-90: Zenki
91-94: Chuki
95-98: Kouki
Zenki means early, chuki mean middle and kouki is late.

So basically an s13 and chuki would be the exact same thing.
So if someone said I have a: 91-94 Nissan 240sx, s13, or Chuki, its all the same thing? Except for the fact that s13 is for 89-91 as well.

No, chucki, ouki and zenki apply to everything, you can have a kouki Trueno, a kouki Skyline (R34), a kouki Supra (MKIV), etc.

oh alright got it so you have to say a chuki s13. One other question, can u use chuki to describe a 240, like "I have a chuki 240" or do u only use zenki, chuki, or kouki when describing jdm cars like the s13, s14, etc.?

Again, you can use zenki to describe an early model of anything, even a toilet.

The CA came in the Zenki 180SX, the redtop SR came in the Chucki 180SX and the blacktop SR came in the Kouki 180SX. The CA came in the Zenki S13 and the SR redtop in the Kouki S13, all S14s got the notchtop (VVT blacktop) and all S15s got a better version of the notchtop.

Like i have a red top ka lol ok im not that stupid. But yea, that does sound right now that i think about it. AAAAHh thats it the black top came in the s13's too. THats where im going wrong. Thanx for the clear up, i need to get the sr facts down again. Iv hindered them out since im a ka guy.

this information wasn't in the FAQs?? wtf have we been doing.
if you call something zen-, chu-, kou- KI then it only applies to machinery/transportation like objects. (i.e. - cars, jets, boats)
The japanese language is very complex but like Logik said... zenki would be the same as saying pre- or early. Chu- meaning middle... and Ko- meaning late...
so there is no meaning behind these that literally relate to the 240sx/180sx. It's just a way to categorize the different models. We just happen to attach some value to them ... so in our world... hearing "chuki" would mean 240sx S13 91-94.
