Old "New Engine" Mods

I’m the lucky guy who threw a rod 2 weeks ago or so.
I ordered a used 2002 3800 ’13,000 miles’ from cherry-auto.COM. Thanks to GTP Dad recommendations. This engine came out of an s/c Regal.
By the way the 97’s Engines with 1000 on them means they don’t know how many miles are on the engine.
Anyway, I thought while the motor out where I could get at it, some mods would be a lot easier to put on.
Talked to Robert at 3800 Performance and this is what he recommended.

Only thing I do, is not use the SLP GTX Catback Exhaust and go with the Borla.Because it has a resinator and when you open up the exhaust it wount be so loud and have that nasty drone that we seem to have a problem with .....been there and done that.

Also been reading about problems with the dual roller set and it has been wearing thru some peoples timming chain covers,Id just stick with the rollmaster single roller set and spend the extra 20 bucks for the GM chain tensioner.

Other then those 2 thing's everything else looks good.

Just having stock exhaust for now, just what is a drone sound suppose to be? I understand the noise factor and the timing chain makes sense but "droning sound".???

Cabin drone,it happens at differnt RPM's...When I had my custom exhaust done,I didnt have the resonator installed and Ive got TOG's and custom 3in downpipe and 3in back to y-pipe then 2.5 to muffler's.Around 35 mph and 65/70 it would drone very bad in the cabin of the car and would start to give me a headache.Then I went and had a 32 in long glasspack installed where the stock resonator was and it made a world of difference.

All looks good, but skip the catback.

Save yourself the money and get a cutout. Catbacks are the biggest waste of money.

Also if your modding that much then skip the press on pulley and get a modular system. You might aslo be able to get a cheaper/better cat then the rt. I always read about people having trouble w/ that cat.

I'd like to know cost. I have this feeling if you add it all up, with time and money, you could really buy a nice car. Part out the GP, and buy a.....?

Go out to 3800 Performance and ADD. As far has labor. Can't put a price on that. If I go with a cut-out "like the idea but not sure" Subtract about 500.00
