Napa. I believe that they deal in Dupont paint.
If your not happy with how the primer turns out take it to some cheap paint place like Macco for them to spray. Although I'd still supply the paint, and do all the prep work first.

Make sure that the primer is an etching, and sealing primer.
Hotrodders has a good body work forum that will probably give you several tips and tricks.
You'll still need to either buy, or rent a proper compressor, with a water filter and get a resporator.

NAPA deals with Martin Senour.Use a self etcher primer on bare metal, then a primer surfacer(sand with 320 to knock down the orange peel, then wet sand with 400),then seal, then basecoat, and last but not least clearcoat. If your going the basecoat clearcoat system.

someones going to holler for this, movin2 i know its not the body shop way but its ok, for cheep paint, go to a tractor supply company and get your favoret of 25 different colors, its like 20 bucks a gallon and will come out with a nice shine as long as you get a high gloss paint, then clear coat, sanding between like movin2 said

I hate to say this, but your right. That's exactly what I did with my first paint job, and I found it worked great.
It was easier to spray than auto paint, and it still looked good after 3 years of driving. I'd use it on my Blazer if I didn't use it for off road.
The paint that I have for my Blazer is just way more scratch resistant

check yellow pages for automotive paint supply and
get your primer at the same place you get your paint. they will know what primer is compatible with what paints you want and tell you how to apply it.
Are you repainting the whole car or just parts you repaired or replaced?
If you are repainting the whole car and dont care if its OEM paint you may be able to save some money. I did my blazer over last summer it was $100. per qt not including the activator..(OEM dupont paint) then I still needed clear coat. I ended up to be about $350. when done. oh ya plus the buffing cream and wax another $50. adds up quick.
What do you have for a air compressor?
I would guess and say no less than a 13 gal, 5 hp.(thats what I used) The only moisture filter I used was the type that screw on to the spray gun. I doubled 2 together and had no problems.I drained the compressor inbetween the paint and clear coat. Also make sure you we the floor down with water befor you start spraying..
GoodLuck to ya...

exactly, it adds up quick, for something nice, not show quality, but definetly nice and easy to work with, 20 bucks will get you oil based paint from tsc, or if you want the epoxi style paint its maby 30 bucks for catalyst and binder with pigment (paint and hardener)

black is really the only color that will look good, anything else will clash with the red, that is most likely faded from uv exposure

I get my paint from O'reilly but I'm not sure if every store carries paint. I use the Nason acrylic enamel because its cheap, looks good, and easy to spray. As for spraying it I would just make sure you have a adequate compressor with a condensor on it. If its your first time spraying I would buy a body work manual and read the primering and painting section. Make sure you start with a clean shop, but I wouldn't suggest wetting the floor down because the evaporation can cause clouding of your paint. The main thing is to take your time if you want a good turnout.

lol yeah, youve got to kind of have the skill and know how to paint, either autobody or something like your house, its not as simple as point and spray and every thing turns out perfect, and like you said, if there is ripple effect in the sheet then your doomed to look like hsit

Tell that to people who think body work is as easy as sanding and then painting.

nah, sanding is just one of those extra things not really needed, like auto insurence, just a waist of money, hell when i paint, half the time i dont even whipe the dirt off, just spray over it, gives the paint something to stick to :lol2:

What do you mean spray it? The best paint jobs are always done with rollers, and everybody knows it!

Nobody has mentioned spray cans yet.Make sure if you use a spray can, don't mask anything off.So that you paint moldings and glass.I just love those kind of jobs.

make sure that when you do this, you color all the same direction, it looks sooo bad when they color in any damn direction they please, and moven2 has a point, spray bombs were ment strictly for point and spray, nothing need be done b4 during or after, its alwse classy to have the tires and stock rims matching the paint on your car/truck/hotrod

I think its like 110 for the whole gallon kit i've only bought it in quarts, and that was 60 for the paint and all the thinners and catalyst.
