2 words my friend, CREDIT CARD! Im up to my eyeballs in credit debt. Ive prolly put about 3,000 into my car. But since ive made an initial big investment, my power comes to me alot cheaper now than it did before.

Mix. I pay for some of my car, parents pay for a part of it. Gas money is all me, so is payments durring the summer/spring, and half of monthly payments durring school. Parents take insurance. Mods, well, I just dropped 300 on an intake, and thats looking like all I'll be able to afford unless I get another $400 tax return every month...

I work and it takes alot of money to keep 2 cars and 1 bike up and running your other hobbies a G/F and school.

But its all worth it

BTW not a penny of debt :D

02-28-2005, 11:25 PM
Im in high school and I pay my car payment, insurance. and gas all on a Jack in the Box paycheck. I hardly have money to do anything but I can save $200 a month for car mods atleast while im living with parents. I pretty much wait for something to go bad on my car to change it like the clutch going bad.

Everyone here is helping me out. Thank you all! I actually work my ass off too. Most of it goes to insurance and I buy whatever I can when I have the money to do it. It takes me months just to save a couple hundred. Ah, I need the insurance though. L8...

Just gut your car and get that damn camshaft in there, civracer. Aren't you tired of being slow?!

CivRacer95
02-28-2005, 11:36 PM
I've been tired since the day I got it. That camshaft is coming in next paycheck. Along with the cam gear, and my underdrive pulley kit. It'll be a glorious day. 14's here I come...woopity dooo...*sigh*. There's no substitute for a good V8. L8...

Nah, that's just like removing the balls for less weight :iceslolan . I'd prefer to keep my cocunuts. Plus the back seat is surprisingly "roomy" for two :naughty: . But that was just a test with a blow up doll :disappoin . L8...

Hmm, dont you ever wonder how much more money you would have if you didnt put it on insurance and put it in a savings account or try to get rid of debt.

-Jayson-
02-28-2005, 11:48 PM
i do wonder, but i cant help it. Modding my car is an addiction. A very strong addiction. Im spending all my tax return on my car, i have a 3,600 dollar credit card bill!!!! I know i should pay that off, i do pay that off, i paid 400 bucks this month, 300 bucks last month and so on. But you know what, i want my car to be in the 13s so bad, i will stand a little bit more debt. Its like crack man!

Well everyone is gonna hate me for this, but I have a father that is pretty well off, and he paid for $18,000 of the $24,000 that my car cost, I footed the other 6 grand...I have a job at Home Depot, so I can pay for my gas and insurance, plus I've paid for my grand or so in mods.

dampachi
02-28-2005, 11:51 PM
Why would we hate you for that? Some people are more fortunate than others. I'm just surprised someone would pay $24,000 for a nissan maxima. Haha.

street_racer_00
02-28-2005, 11:54 PM
hey hey hey now....When "we" bought it back in Feb of 2000, it was a brand new automatic SE with the comfort and convienence package...MSRP was actually $25,700, but my dad negotiated a little off of that.

Rally Sport
02-28-2005, 11:55 PM
My mom is giving me $1000-$2000 for no reason around next week, and its all going into my car.

TatII
02-28-2005, 11:56 PM
i mean its a joke and all but the maxima besides from straight line power is a much much nicer car then a stang. the interior is put together waaay better, and is a much better made car. so 24K for a max is actually pretty cheap since the SE's usually goes for like 25-26K, and i think they're worth every penny since they're generally nice cars.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 12:00 AM
Yeah...mostly I decided on my max because my dad wouldn't let his 15 year old son drive anything faster than that...hell I even had to twist his arm to let me get the max(his argument was "it has more horsepower than my '97 stang GT convertible had")...yes there are faster cars out there for sure, but I still wouldn't trade if for a thing, I'm planning on driving it until it dies....and that 24 grand is looking like a great deal now, considering a 2004 SE is north of 30 grand.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 12:18 AM
It was a joke. And I know you love nissans..but damn. A new GT mustang is $25,000. I guarantee you the interior is put together waaaaaaaaaaaay better than a nissan maxima. 99+ GT mustangs actually have pretty nice interiors. If you want to hate on interior look to the LS1 fbodys. GM does horrible things with plastic.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 12:22 AM
okay, are we REALLY gonna argue about who's interior is more nicely laid out on the street racing forum?

my car's interior whoops your car's interior's ass :D

dampachi
03-01-2005, 12:36 AM
Oh well, you can have nicer, more comfortable interior. You'll need that comfort when you're falling asleep from driving a boring car. :icon16:

TatII
03-01-2005, 12:36 AM
well the whole argument is that the money you pay for in a car has to go into something, and taken out of others. also the 95-03 mustangs have the exact same interior, and they're pretty crappy. however for money they skimp on the interior quality and material, and chassis, the put hte money into the engine. for the max, you pay for the interior, and amenities and a higher resale, but you lose some on the power. its a balance. thats also why a SRT4 has such a crappy interior, but nobody cares csaue its got balls, same thing. so when dampachi made a comment about hte price on the max, i was just letting him know where the money goes into on that car. plus i knew it was a joke, but since most domestic car guys don't care about a cars interior as much, i'd just add it in there just in case.

Rally Sport
03-01-2005, 12:37 AM
You got a point there, GM is horrible because the decide to put plastic like no tomorrow on the F-body, and they say its to keep the car's cost low, but it looks pretty bad if you think about it.

Boring, eh Damp? Ever heard the term "torque steer"?

dampachi
03-01-2005, 12:43 AM
Every thing in my cars interior is solid..nothing shakes or rattles or is broken or anything of the sort. It's comfortable. It's looks decent, it's leather, etc. I don't see how it's in anyway crappy. And actually 99-04 have the exact same interior. And 95-98 have the exact same interior. The only difference is the seats, the shift knob, and SOME trim.

Rally Sport
03-01-2005, 12:46 AM
You're lucky, when I get around 100mph my interior starts shaking really badly because its plastic and its a '92.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 12:46 AM
haha..torque steer. yes, boring. have you ever heard the term "slow"? And this is getting way out of hand. I have nothing against you or your car or your cars interior or nissans or TatII or TatIIs car or his cars interior, etc. I made a joke and no sooner did someone turn this into a Maxima VS Mustang comparison thread.

You'd better watch it with your "your car is slow crap" it isn't THAT much faster than mine.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 12:54 AM
A second and 6mph traps isn't THAT much faster? Wow..M3s/cobras/corvettes aren't THAT much faster than me.

Edit: A second AND a tenth. And yours was on a G-tech..mine was on the track.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 12:57 AM
Let me put it to you this way...a guy with a 14 second car telling a guy with a 15 second car that his car is slow is like the pot calling the kettle black.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 12:58 AM
One more thing...do you really have slips for 14.1? If so, you must be one hell of a driver.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 12:59 AM
Maybe if it were a guy with a 15.1 second car and a guy with a 14.9 second car at similar MPHs...yes. But in this case I am a full second+ faster than you.

TatII
03-01-2005, 01:01 AM
i was just making a statement with no real intentions of turning it into something like this either. i didn't mean it to offend anyone. if your interior is fine with you dampachi then kudos for ford becasue they're obviously not gettin alot of complaints from their customers. however whenever i hope into a 99+ GT, their driving position is terrible. the seats are too low, the shifter is too far forward, the steering wheel is too high, and the pedal heights aren't leveled for heel and toe, the only american car that i've driven that had a decent driving position would be a C5 Vette, and a SRT4. its little things like this that makes up a nice interior. i've never driven a 05 stang yet so i cannot really comment on it. but i feel that the stangs interior's plastic is really thing, and the setup is really old school. esp with those outdated looking knobs for the climate control that seems to have come out of a astrovan or ford econoline truck. but as i stated, your happy with your interior and that means ford did a good job cause it pleased its target customers just fine.

sorry if i come off sounding like a arrogant dick. its just my opinion on it, and most people i know who drive imports who gets into mustangs can't stand their interiors or driving positions eithers. ( maybe we got short arms and bodys :dunno: ) and its sad casue i mean our japanese imports have been having good driving position and ergonomics since the late 80s!!! the domestics are finally gettin it right after like what? 10 years?

dampachi
03-01-2005, 01:01 AM
I got one run in last year before the track closed. I ran a 14.1@101mph. I don't have the slip..but the track reopens this month and I'll definitely be there so I will have some timeslips soon. 101mph is fast enough to be running 13s.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 01:02 AM
you might be right....but I think a guy who drives a 10 second car has no right to shit all over a guy who has an 11 second car for being slow...just like a guy with a 16 second car has no right to shit all over a guy who has a 17 second car for being slow...remember, speed is ALL relative.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 01:06 AM
Well that is pretty impressive, that's the best I've ever heard of a stock 4.6L mustang running...I can't keep up with them off the line...but I've run doors with a 2002 GT 5-speed from 70 to 130 mph(albeit it was a convertible, I don't know how much heavier the convertible is than the coupe).

dampachi
03-01-2005, 01:06 AM
Thanks, TatII. I knew I had to be taking what you were saying the wrong way because I didn't expect that from you. From all the cars I've driven..I feel like I fit perfectly into a 99+ GT mustangs interior. I felt too low in fbodys, too high in civic SIs, and too stupid in an R32 golf. But, I do agree...I wish the pedals were even. Theres a way to fix that but I haven't gotten around to it.

TatII
03-01-2005, 01:08 AM
alright i'll have to chime in again, a stock GT has been proven to run 14.1-14.0 repeatedly in mags and with good drivers. a 14.0 for a stang GT is not mind blowing. remember the stang is still alittle underated casue they put down 230ish at the wheels. and most VQ30DE powered max's runs like a 15 flat. so that is still a whole second off. a max is very fast for what it is, esp for back then since its faster then all the sport compact cars out there except for the type R, but the max now sorta lost its steam since cars now are getting faster and faster, and the max was never meant to compete with a stang GT anyways. but still i give credit where its due, and your max is a very fast car for its time, dampachi should respect that, and so on. but the statment about him not being much faster then you is not true.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 01:09 AM
Nah, I've honestly seen factory tired 99+ GT mustangs running 13.7s. Of course they were mostly professional drivers..but yeah. Low 14s really isn't that impressive in a stock GT mustang. You just see alot of mid 14s being run in them because they're such a common car..some random guy gets one and somehow ends up at a drag strip and decides to run his car without any real knowledge of what he's doing it.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 01:12 AM
TatII beat me to it. But..I did notice my car trapped at one of the highest if not the highest I've ever seen on a GT mustang. I was expecting more of 99mph.

TatII
03-01-2005, 01:14 AM
maybe its really cold where your at? *shrug* i mean yeah your cars usually trap at 99-100mph so 101mph isn't out of hte norm either. if your car trapped at 103mph thennnnn you got a freak.

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 01:14 AM
but the max now sorta lost its steam since cars now are getting faster and faster.
Blech, don't remind me...but yes, my car is 5 years old now...back then 222 hp was most in it's class....now you need like 250-260 just to keep up...effing horsepower wars :disappoin

street_racer_00
03-01-2005, 01:17 AM
Yeah, do you remember the temp/elevation/humidity when you ran your 14.1?
When I did my little G-tech 15.2 run, I was at 45 degrees, 63% humidity, 821 feet above sea level.

dampachi
03-01-2005, 01:18 AM
Well it was in late october/early november..haha. That's usually when it's the coldest here(baltimore, MD). Watch, I'll go to the dragstrip this month and only be able to run 14.5@97mph because of this. Stupid jinx...
