I'm in the market for my first car. I have a limit of $10,000. Id want a 3000GT, but I live in Canada and to get one here it would probably be over my limit. So I have narrowed it down to the following. Which car would you go with. Note, your answers will not have a big influence on my final decision I just want to know. So pick the car you would go with and say if you chose it because of its looks, performance, or reliability.
2000 Mustang GT
1996-1998 Honda Prelude
1996-1998 Nissan 240SX
1997-1998 Acura Integra
1998-2000 Camaro
1999-2000 Eclipse
2000 Mustang GT
1996-1998 Honda Prelude
1996-1998 Nissan 240SX
1997-1998 Acura Integra
1998-2000 Camaro
1999-2000 Eclipse

Get a 93 civic DX for like $3,000 and then go crazy with the rest of the money at autozone/pepboys buying all their quality high performance parts. Like huge aluminum wings and universal exhaust.

Wow sorry Im not as hardcore and educated about cars as much as you bro. Sorry I took up so much space in your precious street racing forum. Sorry I wasted your time with this "pointless' thread. Ill take my question elsewhere.

In your post you don't say anything about racing this car on the street when there is a car comparison forum you could go to. Its not even about taking up my "precious forum" I just dont like to see stupid people posting where they shouldn't be posting. The post you posted is the most common vague ass kind post of this entire website. Everyone posts this crap, and Im just tired of seeing it. What kind of eclipse, what kind of camaro, what kind prelude, and its totally pointless to post this since you said that this wont affect your decision anyways. Oh yeah and a 2000 camaro SS would be my choice :)

since we're talking bout street racing...:)
for out of the box, no mods needed, performance i would go for the mustang (v8), or the camaro (also the v8).

Hi my name is Chris. I'm currenlty on the market for a new car. Mommy and Daddy said they would buy me one if I got good grades. I got a 4.0 on my report card. Then recently I've earned my Eagle Scout Award, and just yesterday I rescued Mrs. Jenkins cat Mittens from up in a Tree. Now they said I can have any car of my choosing for under $50K...Bleh...
Which car should I choose? Which car? What one? Better for money? Good lord, doesn't that question ever end? I'm sorry, I haven't been on these forums too long myself, only for several months but even so, I'm getting sick of that question. And I can't even imagine how it is for those of you who have been in here much longer than me. Geeez. L8...

Yeah, that damn Mittens scratched me. And all I got from Mrs. Jenkins was a quarter. So I went to 7Eleven and bought me some penny candies and made a night of it. Good Ol' Mrs. Jenkins. Cheap ass lady. L8...

03-01-2005, 12:58 PM
I would have gotten a prelude, they look nice as hell but I hate the interior and if youre looking for something to race with it is way too heavy. You would be better off getting like a cheap 93' thats the first years they had vtec in em, and theyre a lot lighter than the newer ones. If you are gonna get like a 97 make sure not to get a type SH, its a bitch to mod.

Isn't the Type-SH the only one worth getting? That's the VTEC one...

For the record, my 1998 Camaro Z28 with 79,000 miles cost me $8,000. Also, it came with SLP Loudmouth exhaust, add that to the fact that the LS1 Camaros and Firebirds are underrated, and that's around 320-330bhp for $8,000. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.

I did that once. Warmed the hell outta street tires, then just revved her up, and dumped the clutch. It was my last run of 15+ that day, and was trying to see how bad of a 60' I could get. It was about 2.8xx. :icon16:

All 97-01 Prelude's have H22 (vtec) motors in them. The Type-SH's being the worst in terms of straight line performance because of the added weight.
Its also odd that you would list 96-98 Preludes are your target buys, because the 96 was of the previous generation.

And then you push a button, and your fun is back. It's mostly a safety precaution for driving in the rain. Most newer/luxury RWD cars have traction control.

I have a VERY bad habit of turning it off as soon as I turn on the car. Kinda makes it hard to have tires last.

Yeah I could use something like traction control then, because I have to get new front tires every 5k miles or so...and that's with only averaging 3 really good burnouts per set.
