Attaching two bumpers.

Hey guys i have a question, I currently have a car in which i want to put a body kit on, its an escort wagon. The thing is, no one makes the rear bumper for these cars. I just measured and found out that a 92-95 civic 4 doors bumper can be made to fit mine. I was wondering how i can go about attaching the two bumpers. Do i weld them together and how would i doo this, or is there another way, like just overlapping the twoo with bondo(dont think this way will be sturrdy). Please help me and give me step by steps if possible. thnx

Let me see if I got this right, you want to take a honda bumper, and cut it to make it fit onto the existing bumper? How much material are we talking about adding? Deffintly don't use bondo....

Definately cant weld fiberglass. Use some screws, and fiberglass. It will be a lot of work to make it look right.

Ya i was leaning more toward fiberglassing over the two. What about these screws, wont the screws show on the bumper. Also if i fiber glass do i just layer a little resion on the inside, then chop mat, then resin again? Should i do it on the outside as well?

Resin is mixed into the fiberglass, not applied separately. You take your resin mix it in the glass and lay the glass down. The screws should show through if you know where to place them.

I dont quite understand what your trying to say, can you simplify it in a step by step?
This is what im getting from what your are saying and im pretty sure i didnt get it right.
1.screw the two together
2.take fiberglass(chop mat) and mix together in container with resin, then aplly mixture over the screws.

Is this correct or what?

Let me say this first. This is no little project, that is going to be a lot of cutting fitting and fiberglassing no matter how close it looks.

I suggest you do a lot of reasearch and practice with fiberglass before attempting a project of this caliber. Because if the glass isnt under the right conditions it will become brittle, crack, not adhere, so on and so forth.

I noe its not gonna be easy, all i asked was how will is it done, i already noe its hard and i need practice with fiberglass, i just want to now how i should it be done.

Take your epoxy resin and hardener and mix them together evenly. Lay down the fiberglass on some sort of plastic mat like a trash bag. Pour the mixed resin on the fiberglass and use an old paint brush to spread the resin through out the glass. Then apply the piece of fiber glass.

i'm i'm correct, pimp my ride did this to an escort too. i'd fiberglass the inside and outside for added strength.
