Auto trans. question

I have a 92 240 with and automatic and its really fucked, My step dad siad somthing about a Vacum modulator so I was wondering if my tranny had one and were it was located.

whats wrong with the tranny?

it stays in first gear, I know nothign about transmissions so im kinda lost, any advice would help thanks

it probably is the vacuum modulator. it should be on side of trans. its a round cylinder usually gold or silver about 1-2" long

if its not the modultor then its probably the shift solenoid and you will have to replace trans
