If you don't have the money to do it right, don't do it at all. I can not believe you took off your PS belt to gain 1hp, and now you have the worst manual steering in the world. A 3600lb car with no power steering on a power steering rack. The coolant light comes on when the coolant is low, simple as that. It probably turns on when you go around corners or accel/decel hard doesn't it.

just wondering if the ps belt removed will harm my ps rack and the reason that i took it off was b/c the steering was way too quick for dragging and i fixed the stutter , it was just a spark plug wire

The coolant light is from the sensor on the bottom of your coolant overflow tank. Just fill the reservoir halfway up and your problem is fixed. If it comes on again, you have a coolant leak somewhere.

im not sure if it does damage but its definately not work risking having no p/s, especially if no hav no money. i just had my power steering rack replaced and the part alone was $800 for my '88 supra. just put the belt back on
