Hi, recently had head done, about 2 days ago, put back on, but engine seems to misfire slightly, only just hear it on start but then starts. Also, setting the screw for the revs seems to be an easy job, but revs will sometimes move up or down at times, especially coming to standstill at traffic lights or will take a while for revs to gradually make it back down, but slowing down it stutters at 2000 rpm. It seems to hunt, and also the crancase breather pipe and canister on top are full of white gunk stuff. Used a whole can of carb cleaner to clear, and within 5 mins of putting it back on and starting engine, gunk started to come back again. Does head need to settle, and how long to settle if so. Cheers, help appreciated. Ash ;-)

Was the head reworked due to a blown head gasket? It sounds like water is getting into the crankcase, did you change the oil after pulling the head?

No, head replaced because water was leaking. Was skimmed etc, new gaskets, also did oil and oil filter change, changed cambelt, new manifold gasket and also just put on a new water flange that's on the head. Yes thought it might be water getting in, but could it be because pipe is shagged? Should pipe collapse under throttle? Where would water be getting in the engine from though? Thanks for reply. Thanks Ash ;)

The breather hoses are common to deteriorate, get soft & collapse. You can try replacing & hope the better air circulation stops the condensation builup. Some builup is normal, especially during cold weather. Kep an eye on the coolant level.

are you seeing oil in your coolant? sometimes if you do, the oil cooler could be going bad. your oil filter is connedted to it. it has water hoses going to it to cool it down. if it starts to go, it will let water in engine and oil into the coolant.
