I have a 99 Cavalier AT. My cruise control worked fine one day and didn't work at all the next day. I have checked the fuses, all good. I don't see any relays under hood for cruise. My speedometer works fine, so I have not checked vss. I visually inspected wires plugged into cruise box under hood and the switch and connector under cover on steering column. I don't believe I have a vacuum problem since my heat switches to defrost and floor and face ...ect just fine.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Probably your muliswitch on the colum with has the switch in it. They have a tendency to go bad. They are just plug and play anyways.

I Have replaced the multifuntion switch in the past, for headlight part going bad. However I have not replaced it since the cruise quit. I'll plug in my old switch to check that out. (cruise switch on old one worked). I'll let you know what happens

I have a Gen II (91), and my cruise quit because a little clip came off that clips a throttle cable onto the device that controls your throttle for the computer. I forget what it's called. But anyway, putting a new clip on fixed that on my car. On mine there are several holes that clip can go in, and if you don't get the right one, your cruise will be funky. It's under the hood on the driver's side on my '91, and there is a cable going to the throttle position sensor, and I think a vacuum cable.

Thanks for your help! I found the problem to be the cable from cruise that connects to the throttle. There is a plastic clip that just came unhooked. The way it was hanging you would not visually see it had fallen off. I happened to drop a tool working on somthing else and felt it when I reached in that area. It is strange how it could have just poped off, it doesn't seem to be broken and when put on tight it cannot be pulled off...hmmm. Well anyway thanks again everyone.

Where can I get one of these clips? I can't seem to find one and I could use one on my throttle cable. Local GM dealer couldn't find em.
