New Thread

What's up guys, I just found this fabrication forum on google and decided to read all the posts (75), and some of you guys are awesome. I'm new to this forum but belong to many others... I have a 2000 s10 on bags with 18" boyds, a serious stereo system and some body mods, all courtesy of me. I wouldn't consider myself a pro at fabrication, but I love doing it. I'm a mod of a fabrication section on a smaller forum , so I love helping people, and also learning from others. I really like this forum, so I'll pro bally stick around and help. Just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm proficient using MiG tig and oxyweld, and fabricating certain sheetmetal pieces. I'm fairly knowledgeable about bodywork aswell. Right now I'm working at Sears in the tools department, but I'm saving up to get my welding certification, and then eventually going to wyotech. Me and my dad built a nice little garage on our farm and I'm working on building up my fabrication tools. I'm either working there, helping people on the forums, or reading fabrication/car books. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything, but I got a little experience under my belt.

How old are you Brook? I tried getting a job at sears before in the tool department. I need to try again.

One thing about the welding certifications. The schooling is good because of the experience, the certifications are a piece of paper. They are good to have, but they are so exact. Some shops require them, some dont.

What kind of work do you do mainly? Sheet metal shaping?

I'm 19, 20 in april...i've been working at sears for about a year and half, and the only reason i got the job was because my brother in law is a manger there. As far as the certification goes, I mean graduating from the local votech college and get my state welding certification on the way. After I finish that I'm off to wyotech to learn all the cool stuff.

Yea i work on sheetmetal fab (patch panels, shaving bodies, minor collsions for friends), hobby body shop stuff and suspension systems. I've done about 5-6 full air bag suspensions for people here around town. I have a millermatic 210, and fairly large collection of metalworking tools (good ol sears ). I'll take some pictures of my shop and truck this weekend.
