yea so im like 80% sure my truck is a 350 but how can i verify it , what would the casting be on teh block? its a 93 gmc 1/2 ton
i tried the rpo codes but didnt catch anything about the engine? and trucks come with 3.73 rearends? didnt know that
but does anyone know what kinda intake manifolds came on these trucks with this year , its not the one with the weird vortec bolt pattern , in 96-99 is it? cause i happen to have some better heads
and does anyone know the exact bolt patern that came on teh trucks , isnt it something like 3.4something with 5bolts

Mike..
there's a lot of different block castings that could be a 350..look on the back of the block (top left, driver's side, on the slanted edge) and see if you can find a casting number. Let me know what it is, and I can tell you the displacement.

is the engine original?? if so what is the 10th digit of your vin?? if memory serves me correctly it should be a K for 350 H for 305. your intake won't bolt on to the vortec heads. vortec has bolts which go straight down while stock ones are angled. i've heard you can drill the intake so they line up or you can order an intake from gm for a vortec tbi conversion although it's expensive.

tried pullin teh valve cover , but its tight and was geting dark , so tomorrow ill pull it and get the casting off teh heads ,
but does anyone know of any sites with statistics of what was offered for that year on the gmc 1/2 ton

Mike, you're sure the 8th digit (engine code) is a K? I know the 10th would be right, P, model year..1993..but I can't find a K , except as a 6 cylinder used in an El Camino..please look again..also, if you can get those block casting numbers, I can give a definite answer, in case there was an engine swap.

Steve

Just look on your inspection paper and it should tell you the liters (i.e. 5.7)

Vin K should be a 350. Here is a list of all the casting numbers used by GM: http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm

If you look on the ends of the heads if they are vortec heads there should be either 3 triangles or an arch shape cast into the head then it is a 350. If there is a rectangle in the middle it is a 305.
