tail light question

i recently seen in a magazine a hb same years as mine 93 and the back was one soild tail light. how do you do that? do you have to fill in the crack that allows that piece to open, and just never open it or what? i was just a little confused.

i dont know. what magazine, is it possible for you to post pictures?i guess it would definitly be custom work, but i want to see it to get a good idea of what youre talking about.
