I am converting my 3.8 V6 stock thunderbird engine to a V8 hopefully a mustang GT V8 depending on what I can find.
Anyway I would like to know which is a better engine with more power a 5.0L V8 or a 4.6L V8 and why?
And also what can be modified the most to get more power.

Depends on how much you want to spend. 5.0 is cheaper. As has been discussed countless times before, once someone has found out exactly all that it takes, they usually go and buy a 5.0 or 4.6 bird.

Ya it really isn't worth the conversion unless you just want to do it.

the 4.6 is better cause of the the cams above the head theres no mechanical HP loss in the push rods by eliminating them. THE 5.0 is cheaper and easyer to work onbut still the advantage of fuelinjection w/out a carb and the 5.0 still has the simplicity of a distributer.
The 4.6 is better if you want to pay money you could make it a 5.8 or more.but i like the 5.0 better cause of the simplicity.thow i like carb cause they are simple the fuelinjection in superior its cleaner and more powerful but i still like push rod motors cause i do everything myself and the other ones im not firmilar with and theres to much computer in them.the 5.0 is confusing enough.
