damn man, everyone is gonna tell u save the money and just buy an ls1 car. im gonna tell you spend the damn money and be different. i know for me (having a 96 rs) after 2grand for the engine and tranny(e-bay) its around another 3-4 grand with the rear end swap, drive train, wire harness and god help it if u have to pay someone to do it. do it yourself if u can. u may save 2 grand or more. if u look good and shop smart im gonna guess with everything u need about 5-6 grand. (being a cheap guess)

i would stick with the 3rd gen if it will cost less than 8000
could you imagine, it would be sweet

it will be pretty expensive, prolly cost the same amount both ways honestly... except the swap will be different, but also take alot more blood, sweat, and tears. i'm gonna say go for the swap because you will absolutely love it when you are done despite the extra work... the recommendation i have for you are the same as philly's shop smart, think things through, and take your time if you are going to do the swap. but i do have something else to help you out... f-body motorsports sells several parts that will greatly help you doing an ls1 swap

the ls1 is so incredibly different than other small blocks, more power to you if you undertake the task, i'd really love to see you do it man

im glad to see u guys supported my advise because many other guys would have told that man as they told me to save the money and just buy the new car. everyone is right, u will learn alot from doing the swap and on top of that u will have something alot of others dont. that 300hp from the start is always a great thing, thats stock. hell im at the point where im starting to re-think my rebuild and doing that swap myself. ill end up spending around the same either way.

now that would be something pretty unexpected, you have the lt1 type 4th gen fbody, put an ls1 in that and you will shock the hell out of everyone... that would be sweet!!

im thinking harder about instead of a re-build doing the ls1 swap it will cost the same as buying a ls1 car along with trading my car in, but like i stated i want to keep my car and also have a newer camaro.. a 2001ss is what i would like 2 have but if i have an ls1 in my 96 that would be bad ass maybe ill think it over the next 2 weeks, ill see what i wanna do, beef up the 3800 (which can and has been done) or go all out with a swap for that sweet ass ls1...choices so many choices!

if he was talkin about putting an LT1 in a v6 fbody i would tell him to just save himself the trouble and buy a new one. but a LT1 or LS1 in a 3rd gen is just a sweet concept to me.

There is a guy in houston with a red vert 3rd gen with ALOT of mods. It has a LS1 and i believe it's a M6 not an A4, it has one piece headlights (not the split 2 lights each side, it's one light on each side), new camaro interior and is red with flames...If i can find pics of it i'll post them...It's gorgeous. I say do the swap!!!
