i took off the plastic shroud that covers all the connections around where the steering wheel meets the column, i cleaned it up snapped it back together replaced the three screws and now there is no ignition.
the ignition moves freely through all the positions and all electronics work as they should, but there is no resistance in the key when it is in the crank position, no springy tension as there would normally be when you start it up and no affect on the starter at all.
the "command center" doesn't have any messages
WHAT'S GOING ON HERE ?

I think that I would go back and pull the dash covers off again and see if you dislodged something or jamed things up some how.
I'm not sure what all is under there but you might have pulled a wire out of a connector too.

i checked and rechecked for hours , until it was too cold and dark to be out there anymore, all the harnesses appear to be intact, i can't find anything loose, But there are also alot of sub assemblies in there that require some special torx heads with a hole in the center to open up, i haven't gotten into those.
I really can't understand why the ignition would move freely though, what could have let go that would release all the tension.
when i reattatched the plastic cover i used a little force to snap it together, is it possible that some internal spring came loose from the vibrations.
