Getting another Camaro!

My first car was a 91 RS which I had to sell when I was 18. Well 6 and a half years later I am finally getting another one! My sister in law's dad runs a wrecker service/junkyard. Well about 3 months ago the local cops called and had him pick up a 1990 RS that they pulled over doing 140. The kid driving had no insurance, license, or registration. Well he never picked up his car SO it is now owned by the junkyard. Her dad said I could have it for $400-$500 to cover the wrecker call, paper work, and getting the title on the car.

It is blue but needs a paint job. No body damage. Interior is in ok shape. The kid put in cheap racing seats which I will need to replace. It has a borla exhaust (not sure which model yet). Mileage is high with about 160,000 but I plan on redoing the engine/trans when I get it anyway. It obviously runs as is but since it has been in a junkyard for 3 months I have to replace the tires and battery as they are now dead. I am going out next weekend to get some pics of the car and I will post them as soon as I can. I am just excited I am finally getting a Camaro again!!

Damn, sounds like a good catch for under $600 especially for a Camaro that runs, I hope I never have to sell my 92, I love my car even for a weak v6

Rally Sport, is that ur car in the sig? if so that looks like a very clean third gen. do u ever plan on doing something w/ the car along the lines of a swap, to get rid of the weak in the knees v6?

Yeah, cant wait to get my hands on it in about 2 weeks. Already have tires and wheels picked out. I am sure I will be in here quite a bit for advice. I am already looking for a new rear end for it. I think the stock is like a 2.74? I am looking for a 3.73 on ebay and locally. Plus a new hood and tons more. I have about $2000 set back to start working on it so just need to stretch out that money!

stock rear ends are usually 2.73's. if its an automatic you may not want to go as deap as 3.73, 3.42's might work better if its auto. a manual tranny would mate great with 3.73's. either way its your choice man just puttin in my :2cents:

Well it is an auto, so maybe I should do more research. I am not the most mechanically inclined person but I am spending most of my evenings reading up on all of the upgrades I want to do. Most of it is basic stuff. The rear end exchange is about the only thing I am not 100% on. I will read up on the 3.42. Thanks for the advice.

Here is me and my original. I was 17 in this pic so that puts it at about 7 years old. I am hunting for those same wheels in a 16" right now. Hope I can find them.

I know the pic is crappy. The only pic I still have of the car. A polaroid I had to scan so I could upload.

Yeah I do, I plan to get a LS1 in if I can, probably around the end of this year, along with a posi and a couple of other things.

LS1 is some pretty big ambitions, if u ever need help all us guys are here, i wish u the best of luck with that, i've found a good website that helps with ls1/thirdgen swaps...

whatever u think it may cost to do the swap, double it, and you'll be on the safe side financial wise...

How much is it costing you to get the Lt1 in and going?

i've done so much besides just the basic swap... i would guess tho that the bare bones swap would cost about 4 grand

See I dont have my mind all setup on the Ls1, im trying to get a nice powerful engine that has good mpg, and I looked at the Ls1 because it already has my mpg and its got some great power, but if I find something better i'll go with it, im just trying to get a better engine for my car since it already has alot of miles on it.

Well decided to go with another one. I mentioned it in another thread. This is a V6 but I had planned to change out the engine and tranny anyway. Looking into a 383 engine swap for it.

Anyway. This one has been sitting out for about 6 months. A friend found it for me. Getting it for $300. No major body damage. I will be getting the 91-92 ground effects for it though. Once I get those and the new hood for it(something like an SS style), I will get it painted and do the engine/tranny/suspension worl on it. Then the interior last.

Just thought I would share.

Yeah, world of difference a little paint and tlc can do for a Camaro. I have been planning this for over 7 years so I am going to definitly follow through. Will take some time but I will post updates when I get some stuff done.
