im replacing my heater core in my 88 mustang gt. it is equiped with ac so im figuring i must discharge the system. can anyone tell me how this is done. and also, my ac doesnt work it needs to be recharged... if that is that case do i still need to discharge it before doing the heater core?

HiFlow has a link in the tech section. Good luck man, a lot of us have done it, not fun! Just put aside the weekend for it if your not very auto inclined.

to replace a heater core in a car equipped with AC, the dashboard has to come out.... most guys drop the steering column and lay the dashboard on the front seats, which saves you the hassle of figuring out where the wiring goes. i have to do this to my car, and i'm not looking forward to it at all...

Damn skippy! I've actually done heater cores 3 times, it gets easier the more you do. I have actually gotten e-mails from people telling me how great it was they found my write up, because it made the job so much easier for them.

Take a look here, I documented the whole process with pictures and intstructions.
