Avantages of lighter wheels?

I'm just wondering what are the advantages/benifits of lighter rims? I ask this as I still (2 weeks later) wait for my Kumho 711 tires to arrive to mount on my Konig Helium rims I ordered (they supposedly weigh 10.9 lbs. per rim).

Less unsprung weight equals better accelleration. The myth is more power which is not true. Simply put, expect quicker accel through first and second gear. Less rotational mass equals less resistance.
Basically is is easier to spin the wheels, which is why it is quicker to pick up.

Also the car will feel more tossable, lighter on its feet.

Right cause the suspension can move easier and quicker with less weight.
Think of your wheel llike this:
Take your heliums and add a 20lb weight ring around the outside of the wheel/tire. Now your wheel/tire package will weigh about: 10lbs for wheels, 10-15lbs for tires, and now a 20lb weight. The whole thing coming out to about 40-45lbs. Put it on your car and try to spin it on the axle. It will take more energy to spin, samething as lifting it onto your car it's heavier and required more power to lift off the ground. Now take that 20lb weight off and it's easier to lift and move around.

Cool deal then.
I had a hunch lighter wheels could make a car quicker in acceleration. :)
So how light are the Helium rims (10.9lbs per rim) compared to other lightweight racing wheels, such as say the Spoon SW388's? How light are those comparably?

Heliums are pretty light when compared to the wheels listed in the wheel weight(s) list.

hey, I've seen those wheels on GBC. I wish they would of had a deal like that when I bought my wheels. I dont think they actually weigh 10.9 lbs though, but more like something like 15 lbs. Check the site again, they have a new pic of the wheel on a scale.
What color did you get?

No, they DEFINITELY don't weigh 15 pounds, not even close, it's a lot less. I know this for a fact, because the shop I got my wheels from has had them in for over a week now (just waiting on the dang tires to arrive via boat from Japan), and they let me look at them and pick them up, and those wheels are LIGHT! Not as light as the Spoon SW388's, but pretty darn close. Konig Divas weigh about 15 pounds for the "15 version, and the Heliums are considerably lighter than the Divas. Another way I was able to compare the wieght, is the stupid Remo POS drums we use in my drumline I'm in at school weigh about 15 or so pounds for the snare drum, and it was easier to one handed pick up the Heliums than it is to pick up the drums. As for color, I got them in silver to help match my car.

The 15 lb. wheels you're talking about are the Konig Green Lights, which I actually just ordered.
