Any1 know where a good site to get a 1996 eclipse performance chip, a site that is actually trustworthy to buy from, not somethin like ebay or some of that stuff, but still a little cheaper.

Are you kidding? That thing is the biggest waste of money when it comes to ANY kind of "performance" accessory. Don't waste your money on that thing, please.

As for other chips, I don't know. I still don't quite understand why some people think there is a universal "chip" that will make their car faster. If you want your ecu modded, you're going to have to send it off to someone who knows what they are doing, what you have done to your car, and what needs to be fixed/adjusted. I think I recall some place called Jet or something that would take your stock ecu and flash it, so to speak.

Most importantly, just remember that there is NO universal "chip" that is going to help your car, and anyone who says differently is just ignorant. Enjoy :)

He asked for a performance chip and I gave it to him. I don't recall saying anywhere in my post that it was good or would help his car in any fashion.

So in other words you would just let him waste his money? Wow, I sure wouldn't want to be your friend.

From what I know the ECU can't be reprogrammed... at least the 4G63 anyway... the previous owner told me he sent the ecu in for like $300 for a gain of up to 28HP.... all they can do is remove the speed limiter... that is what i've heard anyways...
The best thing I know of for the N/A is the chips they sell on ebay and all they do is lie to the ecu saying the incoming air is about 32 degrees causing it to stay at a cold idle... something like that... friend of mine got one for his old grand prix GT and it did give him a little extra kick but nothin to ooh aah over..and his mileage dropped about 2-5 mpg...
Thats my 2Cents

well no chip is really gonna do you any good without tuning. Mine is gonna get chipped by a local shop owner (well programmed anyhow) and then dyno tuned to make the most out of my particular header, exhaust, ect ect. Tuning isn't cheap but its how you make all those bolt ons produce there potential. peace

this is a place for helping someone NOT fuck stuff up. He could go find a piece of junk performance chip if he wanted, he didn't need your help. don't post if you arent going to be of some use.

As for eBay "chips"...he probably bought a resitor that you can buy for 4 cents at radioshack, my friend did it and he took it out right away. he bought it more just to see what it would do. don't waste your money on ebay for that kind of thing.
