cv joints arent on the tranny, they are on the axles

You should be able to pry it out w/ a big screwdriver once you get the front end taken apart.

yeah but hes talking about taking off the outer cv joint. why would you take that off if your trying to take out the inner joint out of the tranny? it doesnt make sense.

well if atmdc would reply, hopefully he'll describe it a little better so we can know what hes trying to do. If hes trying to just get the axle out of the tranny, you huys are right, just get a flathead in between the axle and tranny and pop it right out (no hammers involved lol) If hes actually trying to get the cv joint apart, get the axle out of the car first, then bring on the hammer. help us help you atm :p

that wont even work. how are you going to pound out the outer joint while its still in the hub, since the hub doesnt move. and the inner joint can jsut slide out so thats not a problem. the hammer idea doenst even come into play till you have the axle out and then you want to take the outer cv joint apart

if you have the axle out, the easiest way to change the outer boot is to take the inner joint apart and just slide the the outer boot from the inner joint side. that way you dont have to take apart the bitch outer join

sorry, theres been a change of plans, me and my friend are replacing a motor and at first we were gunna take the tranny out with it but instead we just decided to take the engine out and leave the tranny in and then put the new engine back in but we cant get the transmision to crack free
