1995 TC w/ keyless entry problems

I have a 1995 lincoln town car. I just purchased it and was not given a keyless entry remote nor the code for the door keypad. I found, with a little research, that the TC comes with a permanent factory code for the key pad, and I've located the sticker with the 5 digit code on the right trunk support. However, the code doesn't work. The doors do not unlock with this code. I know that the key pad works because when any of the buttons are touched the keypad lights up as well as the interior lights of the car. I just recently bought 2 keyless entry remotes for this car but I'm not able to program them because I can't get the key pad code to work. Does anyone know what I should do? I can't afford to take this car to a dealership for help, so I need to try to do this myself. Any advice would be great!

Hi Monica, Welcome to AF lincolns !!
Be absolutely sure the keypad works first. With the doors un-locked and closed (key in hand, don't lock yourself out!!), try pressing two buttons at once 7/8 9/0, if the keypad works these two buttons will lock all the doors.

Thank you so much for responding! Ok, when I tried to program the keyless entry remote, at the end of the programming process, the directions indicate to press the 7/8 and 9/0 to exit the programming mode. When I did this, the only indication I got was at the end when I pressed both buttons and the doors locked. This also activated the alarm so that when I unlocked the doors with the key, it went off and I was not able to turn it off until I unhooked the battery cable. For some reason the factory code that I found on the trunk support is not working. Is there anyway to set another code for it without the factory code? I don't know how I'm going to get this remote programmed! Please help! :banghead:

DO NOT attempt to set a remote without the factory code working.
No, there is no way to program a remote without the factory code.
You must first get the code. Obviously you've confirmed that the keypad is working, so let's not play that game anymore.
You need to remove the drivers door panel, and look directly at the Keyless Entry Module inside the door.
Here a direct quote from an ealier thread where mfrias1 asked if there's a way to get the code if it's not on the trunk hinge:
.....Is there a way to get it ? ...
Yes!
The Control Module has the same sticker on it, or sometimes Ford printed the code number on the module with white ink.
The Control Module is located inside the drivers door, so in order to see the module you'll have to remove the Trim Panel.
I've heard of one instance where the glue that held the sticker to the module deteriorated, and the sticker fell off and was found below the module in the bottom of the door.
I've uploaded PDF's for 1996 Control Module location, and Door Panel removal and installation for you to get. You can Rt-Click >Save As, or simply view them online.
Go Here... Clicky, Clicky (http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/linc.htm) , look for links to 1996 Driver Door Module, and 1996 Driver Door Panels.
Just so you know, if you have a Control Module with NO Code ID, you can open the module and "read" the positions the resistors are soldered to the main circuit board to ascertain the code. :smokin:
You'll find details on that here (http://webpages.cwia.com/~bdklein/sho.htm), and here. (http://webpages.cwia.com/~bdklein/sho%20code.jpg)
Lemme know if I can be of further assistance.
