GT4 Discussion.

In order to avoid the multiple OT threads like there were for NFSU2 I think we should keep our Gran Tourismo 4 discusion in here since there are probably people who could care less about it and this way we won't clog up the board. If any of you mods think its not a good idea to have another OT thread (be it sticky or not) then go ahead do what you gotta do and I'll just go to the gaming section... But I bet others won't and will start lots of threads on it in here. I like discusing things with people I know so I'd much rather have the discussion in our nook of AF.

I just got the game and I allready have a question lol. Has anyone figured out how to switch to 3rd person view? I prefer being able to see the realitive position and orientation of the car, makes it easier to judge things for me. Also, how do you get a 3000GT? I was suprised not to see it in the classic cars section since I think everyone here would agree its the best car Mitsubishi ever made. Does the used car dealer sell it or is it a prize car or what? I know its in here somwhere!

I don't have it yet, but I do have a question. Are the graphics as good as everyone says? And is it a must-buy?

The movie graphics are top notch, the cars look perfect, like they are in the showroom. It is a bit expensive but its my favorite game and its been a must buy series for me since playing GT2. I wish I could get it going in 3rd person view since all I do is spin out in my 300Ztt since I'm not used to playing in first person... it sucks lol.

It should be the same as the other GT's. It's been awhile since I played but I think it was triangle for GT3....? Your instruction booklet should have the info on one of the first pages. According to Gamefaqs.com, the GTO is definitely in the game. It seems to be available after a certain period of time. Hope this helps.

It was R1 in GT3 bt its not in GT4, I've tried everything.

I know with the steering wheel you can change view there is a button mapping option in the game, just check it out.

Another thing I noticed with the steering wheel is that you can look left and right.

How much are those anyways?

Press select to change view i just got the 97 3KGT VR4. HEHEH wanting to get ahold of a 99. I love the game so far, i like how the pysics are alot more life like.

I bought it yesterday, along with a PS2 as well. It's the reason why I was waiting to buy a PS2. I absolutely love the game and can't wait to master it :)

Did you get the tiny playstation? They're incredibly small! My brother got one for xmass since I stole his lol. I can't wait to ditch the 300ZX I have and get a VR4, then the escudo... that thing is sooo fun.

right now i have the vr4,Bmw V12 LMP, Amuse Carbon R skyline, R34m spec Nur, camaro iroc 88 concept, charger 440 rt and getting ready to get ALOT MORE. Does nebody know the limit on number of cars u can own in this one.?

Lol I've been selling everything, buy they've been all crappy cars so far. I just got a feel for the game though so more cars to come. I love the alps, its just like actually riving them lol, cept not as many hair pin turns as in most of the alpine "highways." I love how you can set up your playlist with only songs you like, and how in turbo cars they shoot little flames when going off boost lol.

WOOT i just ran a 10.433 in my 835hp VR4 wonder what would happen if i took my Mclaren F1 out hehe. By the way thourun u looked at the GTpics forum over in the games section? i plan on putting up some of my pics up soon.

yeah i have one of those tiny ps2's as well. the only way I could figure out how to shut it off was to unplug the ac adapter.

Lol they're so small, I do the same thing to turn it off. Does anyone understand how the point system and skil level work?

you gotta do the driver challanges, but I'm not sure if they actually help at all. The steering wheel costs $150... but it has a 900° turn radius. Just make sure your table or whatever is weighted, I'm having issues lifting the table during sharp corners.

to turn the PS2 off just press and hold the on button ( the one with the green light) it will turn the light red and be shut off.

guys I dont have the game yet but I do have some questions. My friend mentioned that if you have GT3 data you can transfer it over and you wont get the cars but you will keep the money you had earned....is that true. also how is the damage effect on the cars now, does it get expensive having to repair them?
you guys just started and already you have so many cars.....I remember I had 2 or 3 cars for weeks when I first got GT3.

u can bring up to 100,000. Damnage there i none but when u hit a wall now it will jar your screen farley good. Hehe with 100k u can grab a nice car and then start racing the F*ck out to get money. Right now my work horses are a Imprenza Sti, 350z roadster, and my 98 Vr4 wanting to get a 240sx to go drifting in but waiting to find the right color on the used car lot. O yah can't forget my toyota x-runner bought it just to see how the trucks work on here and its fairly good actully. Kinda funny to see me racing the suday cup with these little cars and my red truck.

You can transfer liscenses too. There is no jaring of your vision when you are in 3rd person view. If your car has a lot of milage it supossedly dosent handle as well and there are things (that cost a lot) that can bring it back to new. Ohh and the 98 VR4s look like 99s.

In first person it does, yah the revive thing is like 50k, i forgot bout the liceneces. Yah the years are off due to them being in japanese realse year.

so i went and got my ps2 back from letting my uncle borrow it and then i stop at the store on the way home and buy the game... i get my ps2 home and hooked up just to find out i forgot the memory card at my uncles and u cant play the actual game without it... and arcade gets really boring... so i was fairly upset..

Woot, I just won the concept for the VR4! The active areo helps you turn and stuff its realy cool to drive. You have to win the jap 80's cup thing to get it... not too hard since I started out with a 89 300zx lol.

Just got the 99 VR4 MR full Blitz everything man that thing is fast. Turning,stoping,accelerating everything.

hmm I must win this concept VR4 I haven't been able to play too much lately. Playing the Japanese Championship now. 10 laps of Tsukuba sucks.

God I know, I was doing that yesterday and my mom comes in on the last turn and starts talking and of course I screw it up and go in too fast, got 3rd. How do you get this 99 VR4? And whats up with the "tuner shop" and the wing shop thing?

Got the new slimmer PS2. Played the game on a 42" widescreen HDTV with surruond sound. The game is schweet as hell. Graphics are soooooooooo much better.


I love playing it on really loud SFX and low music. I like the sound of the turbo's spooling up....cargasmic

I wish my set were a little bigger so I could take better advantage of the better graphics :(. Would be a great game to play on a projector with some people!

Duuuuuude! You guys know how in GT3 on the super speed ring you could just get your fastest car and geta rubberband and put it on the gas button and it would win the race (and money ) for you? Well in GT4 its even easier! All you have to do is set it up in directors mode and it'll win you money and cars for you while you watch TV or post or whatever lol!

cool, i think they made endurance races a bit easierthen....200 laps killed me in GT3

Thats the thing about it, its so light and has so much downforce that its easy to drive way faster than you should lol.
