dead in the water

I have a 97 Taurus GL. last night i returned home from a movie to change clothes before meeting friends and when i went out .. nothing.. dead as a doornail. no int. lights, nothing. when i approached the car.. i unlocked it using the double turn thing to unlock all the doors so i could get something out of the back seat. and that worked. so i know it had power. ive checked the battery connections and voltage as well as load testing it. i noticed that whenever any power device in the car is used. ( ie power locks, int, light, headlights, seat adjustments.. anything) there is a clicking noise coking form under the stearing column. when inspecting the fuse box located there, the clicking seems to be coming from one of two small grey cudes at the top of the fuse box, yet i cant seem to remove it. any thoguhts??

Take the battery out and have it checked at an auto part's store before you get carried away.
