91 blower not working

recently, the blower works sometimes only. When I play with the speed switch and bring it up to #4 the engine drops in idle speed then comes back, the blower does not work though. Checked all the fuses all are fine. wire connections to blower look good. Could not detect power going to blower motor with test light?? It's winter here and I could really use the heater. Switched the block fuses and still doesn't work. How can I check if the blower motor is mal-functioning?

I have the same problem, pretty discouraging when you see that there's been no replies in over a year.

On my 626 2.0 station wagon from 1992, I had problems with my cabin heater blower.

It would suddenly not work in no. 1 and 2 position. No. 3 and 4 was ok.

The problem was the resistor assembly on the heater blower unit.

To access it, remove the underdash cover below the glove box (2 clips).

The resistor assembly is located on the blower unit and has two electrical
plugs connected.

Remove the two plugs and the two Phillips recess screws.

Now the resistor assembly can be removed and inspected.

In my case the no. 2 resistor coil was broken (burned).

To install, reverse the procedure.
